 UNIZIK to Confer Honorary Degree on Seyi Tinubu as 8,157 Students Graduate at 19th Convocation Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, is set to graduate 8,157 students during its 19th convocation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session. The event, beginning on Wednesday, March 25, will feature a convocation lecture by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. TRAGIC INCIDENT: GENERATOR FUMES CLAIM LIVES OF YOUNG COUPLE IN PORT HARCOURT. (PHOTO).

  A devastating incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of a young couple. The victims, a man and his lover, Peace, succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes. According to eyewitnesses, the couple had placed their power generator in the passage close to their room on Friday evening and left it running throughout the night. The next day, concerned co-tenants, who had not seen the couple emerge from their room, forced the door open and discovered the lifeless bodies. A local resident, Chima, reported that neighbors immediately alerted the authorities at the Central Police Station. The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stating that preliminary investigations suggest the couple's deaths were caused by inhalation of generator fumes.

 Ohio man arrested after the 12-year-old boy he forced into ice baths tragically dies. Authorities were called to a home at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 22nd) in Akron, Ohio. The initial call was to report a 12-year-old boy was suffering from a cardiac arrest. EMS transported Jadako Taylor to Akron's Children's Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. It was recorded that Jadako had a body temperature of just 74 degrees when EMS responded to the scene... As police began investigating this young boy's death, a chilling tale emerged.  According to reports by Akron Municipal Court, 23-year-old Anthony McCants caused the death of Jadako by forcing him into ice baths. The courts allege McCants forced Jadako into 2 ice baths between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. The first ice bath lasted approximately 45 minutes.   Woman Seeks Divorce Over Husbandā€™s Excessive Sexual Demands A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has filed for divorce at a Kaduna Customary Court, citing her husband, Felix Stephenā€™s, overwhelming sexual demands as the reason. Linda, a resident of Ungwan Sunday in Kaduna, told the court that her husband frequently forced her into prolonged intimacy from midnight until morning, sometimes ignoring her distress. She also accused him of physically assaulting her whenever she refused his advances. Married for six years, she stated that she had moved out of their home three months ago and was unwilling to return despite pleas from his relatives. ā€œI can no longer endure his excessive sexual demands.   INEC stalls Natasha Akpoti recall petition over incomplete contact details The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has halted the recall petition against Natasha Akpoti due to incomplete contact information. According to INEC, the petitioners provided only the lead petitioner's phone number and an incomplete address ("Okene, Kogi State"), falling short of the requirements outlined in Clause 1(f). The petition, which garnered 474,554 signatures from 902 polling units, will be put on hold until the petitioners provide the necessary contact details. INEC also urged the public to disregard speculation circulating on social media and awaits the completion of the petitioners' information to proceed with the verification process using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

 ANAMBRA SECURITY: RESCUE OF A KIDNAPPED VICTIM, RECOVERY OF HIS SHUTTLE BUS AND DEATH OF A NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER IN IHIALA, ANAMBRA STATE On the evening of 24th March 2025, a Joint Security team comprising the Police, Military and Ihiala Vigilante while on patrol intercepted a black shuttle with reg nos: RSH 255MS that drove in a suspicious manner. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the armed occupants opened fire on the Joint Security team.  During the gun duel, the Joint Security team demobilised one of the armed assailants while four others abandoned the shuttle bus and escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds via a nearby bush. The Operatives on searching the vehicle found a blindfolded victim, suspected to have been kidnapped and who was tied on the hand and legs while his mouth was sealed.  South Sudan's VP Machar says Uganda is violating arms embargo South Sudan's First Vice President Riek Machar has accused Uganda of violating a United Nations arms embargo by entering the country with armoured and air force units, and conducting airstrikes there, Reuters reported. In a letter addressed to the U.N., African Union and the IGAD regional bloc, Machar said Uganda's military intervention in South Sudan had violated a 2018 peace deal, which ended a brutal five-year civil war. Uganda said it had deployed troops in South Sudan earlier this month at the request of the government there, following a breakdown in the turbulent relationship between Machar and President Salva Kiir. The investigation of the CFA 7m,  which is about N17m ( Seventeen  Million Naira) commenced on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 after it was handed over to the EFCC by the Customsā€™ Area Comptroller for the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu  at Idiroko in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.  Gov Okpebholo Unveils 3,000 Hectares for Farming in Edo The Edo State Government has launched a large-scale farming initiative, starting with the cultivation of 3,000 hectares across the state's three senatorial districts. Governor Monday Okpebholo kicked off the project with the clearing of 60 hectares in Iguoriakhi, Ovia South West LGA, as part of efforts to boost food production. Okpebholo emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubuā€™s Renewed Hope Agenda for food security. He affirmed plans to replicate similar farm settlements in Edo Central and Edo North. Dr. Osagie Peter, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, revealed that about 250 farm heads will benefit from the first phase. The Iguoriakhi Farm Settlement, originally established in 1962 with 2,350 hectares, already hosts permanent crops like oil palm and rubber.
