The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has clarified that no Nigerian student on a valid Federal Government scholarship has been abandoned. All beneficiaries duly enrolled under the Bilateral Education Scholarship (BES) Programme prior to 2024 have received payments up to the 2024 budget year, in line with the Federal Government’s obligations. Any temporary delays in outstanding payments are attributable to fiscal constraints and are currently being addressed through ongoing engagements between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.  NAF ALPHA JET PILOTS DISPLAY COURAGE AND PROFESSIONALISM DURING POST-INSPECTION TEST FLIGHT EMERGENCY The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commends the exceptional bravery and professionalism of its Alpha Jet pilots who safely ejected following an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection functional check flight on 6 December 2025, at Nigerian Air Force Base Kainji. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft developed an emergency, prompting the pilots to act swiftly and with remarkable composure. They expertly manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before executing a safe ejection. The crew is currently undergoing routine medical evaluation.  Nigerian military jet crashes in Niger A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet has reportedly crashed near Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday evening, December 6. Unconfirmed reports from local sources clam that the two pilots onboard survived the incident after successfully ejecting from the aircraft. A Niger state-based digital television network, Lapai TV, announced the tragic incident  in a post on its official Facebook account on Saturday evening, December 6. The post, accompanied by a one-minute video, read, “Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State”. It was reported that the two pilots successfully ejected before the aircraft went down. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has yet to make any official statement concerning about the crash as of the time of filing this report.

According to her story, her late father married 6 wives and the step brother who is harassing her is the only surviving Son from all the 6 wives, she stated that she lost 4 of her brothers who were born by her own biological mother, she said they all died at an early age. Miss Nkechi is not yet married and her step brother who is the only surviving Son has denied her access to all their father's properties claiming that as the Only Surviving Son, he is the rightful owner of all the properties. Government of Anambra State, through the ministry of women affairs and social welfare have promised to help and secure her from the further harassment.

Fourteen others were injured and taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, though police did not specify their ages. The shooting occurred in the early hours at an unlicensed bar.  Body of a man sweft away by flood recovered The police in Apel, under the Sekhukhune District, have opened an inquest docket after the body of Mr Johannes Tsere Lekwadu (30) from Ga-Selepe was recovered from the Raphulu River at Atok (Sefateng) on Thursday, 04 December 2025. This comes after a missing person report was filed, with information suggesting that he may have been swept away by flooding. A search operation was activated, leading police and various stakeholders to work together throughout the period to locate him. Following a prolonged and coordinated effort, the body was found and retrieved. Emergency and support services attended the scene. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

 Girlfriend Arrested After Boyfriend’s Body Found Buried in Shallow Grave Police in Tzaneen have made a significant breakthrough in a shocking murder case at Morutji Village, Bolobedu South, with the arrest of a 31-year-old woman believed to be behind the killing of her boyfriend. The victim, identified as Isaiah Thomas Maphalle (42), was reported to have been killed and later buried in a shallow grave behind his home. Police were alerted after community members raised concerns, leading to the discovery of the body. It is alleged that the victim’s remains were found wrapped in a maize meal bag. A swift investigation led officers to the deceased’s girlfriend, who was arrested on Thursday, 04 December 2025. The motive behind the killing is not yet known and remains the subject of ongoing police investigations. The suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 December 2025, facing a charge of murder.

 CAC to clamp down on illegal PoS operators from January 2026 The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has threatened a fresh clampdown on unregistered Point of Sale (POS) operators in Nigeria from 1st January 2026. The Commission said it observed a rising number of POS operators running without registration, violating CAMA 2020 and CBN Agent Banking Regulations. In a statement on Saturday, the agency said all PoS must be duly registered with the commission or face immediate shutdown. It warned that no POS operator will be allowed to operate without CAC registration, adding that security agencies will enforce nationwide compliance.  Nigeria’s NAFDAC now a member of ICH The International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) has confirmed Nigeria as a member. Nigeria’s NAFDAC was admitted when the ICH Assembly met in Singapore from 18 to 19 November 2025, during its second in-person meeting this year.  At the same assembly, South Africa’s SAHPRA was also admitted as a member, while DIGEMAPS, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippine FDA were admitted as Observers. Community members revealed that the suspect had allegedly planned to sell the children.  14-YEAR-OLD KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED IN BENUE In a dramatic rescue operation, personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards freed a 14-year-old boy from suspected kidnappers during a routine patrol on the Oweto-Otukpo road in Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) on Friday, November 29, 2025.   Around 7:45 p.m., the security team intercepted a suspicious vehicle. On sighting the patrol, the abductors abandoned the boy at Egla, Agatu LGA, and fled into the night.   The victim, identified as Daniel, son of Michael and Rebecca, was immediately taken to the Civil Protection Guards’ office in Obagaji, Agatu LGA, where he received medical care. Philip Okpekwu and Benedict Ogaba, sustained injuries.   - The assailants also stole a motorcycle, deepening the community’s anguish.   The incident has heightened fears in Benue South Senatorial District, where tensions between herders and locals continue to escalate. In a letter to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, he cited his ancestry in the Oba Jadiara lineage and highlighted his decades-long contribution to Yoruba culture, as well as titles including Mayegun of Yorubaland and MON.  PDP court hearing over pro-Wike faction suit adjourned to Jan 14 The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday adjourned the hearing of a suit by the pro-Wike faction of the PDP challenging the Ibadan National Convention until January 14, 2026. The adjournment followed a motion by the opposing faction, led by Kabiru Turaki, seeking the recusal of Justice Joyce Abdulmalik over alleged bias. The court held the motion was not yet ripe for hearing, as some parties had not been served. The suit involves disputes over party leadership recognition, access to PDP headquarters, and INEC’s acknowledgment of party representatives. A related counter-suit by the Turaki-led faction was also adjourned to January 16.

 Lebanon says it does not want war with Israel Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told a UN Security Council delegation on Friday that Lebanon seeks diplomacy, not war, amid ongoing tensions with Israel. He urged international support for the Lebanese army’s plan to disarm non-state groups like Hezbollah, while stressing the Lebanese people are “tired of military confrontations.” Hezbollah backed diplomacy but criticized civilian involvement in talks. The ceasefire-monitoring committee, including civilian representatives, will resume meetings on December 19, as Israel continues strikes in southern Lebanon.
