 Ezekwesili Explains Why She Clashed With Senator Nwebonyi Former Education Minister Obiageli Ezekwesili has explained her heated exchange with Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi during a Senate ethics committee hearing on sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Ezekwesili accused the committee of complicating the process for petitioner Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. She confronted Nwebonyi after he dismissed the petitioner’s team as unserious, telling him to “shut up.” The altercation escalated, with Nwebonyi insulting Ezekwesili, calling her a “disgrace to womanhood.” Speaking on Arise TV, Ezekwesili defended her reaction, stating she opposed the unfair treatment of the petitioner.

South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron dead at 24 South Korean actor Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home in Seoul on Sunday, nearly two years after she retreated from the public eye following a drunk driving conviction. The operatives, on February 6, 2025, acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspects, recovering a Daylong motorcycle they had snatched from their victim, three locally fabricated guns with two live cartridges. A preliminary investigation revealed that on January 5, 2025, the suspects boarded a commercial motorcycle from Okwojo Ngwo to Amokwe Ngwo, both in Udi LGA. Along the way, they stopped, shot the rider in the left thigh, and fled with the motorcycle. Some of the worst-affected areas include Mawa, Boqa, and Ndhambi villages, along with multiple other locations across the province. Authorities have urged road users to exercise extreme caution while traveling, as many roads remain hazardous. The department is currently assessing the full extent of the damage to plan effective recovery and repair operations. Mop-up efforts will commence as soon as evaluations are complete to restore safe and accessible road conditions.   The Executive Chairman of Umunnochi Local Government Area in Abia State, Sunday Afurobi, has debunked rumors of his resignation, calling the circulating letter a "fake material" forged by his detractors.¹ The rumor mill had been churning out claims that Afurobi had quit his job, with a purported resignation letter addressed to Governor Alex Otti making the rounds. However, Afurobi has come out to set the record straight, assuring the people of Umunnochi that he remains in charge of the council. The forged resignation letter, which bore Afurobi's fake signature, had caused confusion among local government staff and supporters. But Afurobi has urged everyone to remain calm, ignore the fake news, and continue supporting Governor Otti. Afurobi revealed that his lawyers and security agencies are currently investigating the matter, reviewing the "disturbing situation" to get to the bottom of the fake resignation letter.

  The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, with 2,577 results withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice. According to WAEC's Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, the examination was conducted in two modes: paper and pen, and a computer-based hybrid mode, for the first time. A total of 68,342 candidates registered for the examination, representing a 20% decrease compared to 2023. However, 65,023 candidates sat for the exam across 5,067 centers nationwide. The results show that 43,923 candidates (67.55%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 34,878 candidates (53.64%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.   The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has suspended a lecturer, Mr. Chigozie Jude Odum, from the Department of Archeology and Tourism, over allegations of impregnating four female students within four years of his appointment. According to a letter dated February 15, 2025, signed by the Deputy Registrar, Achiuwa F.C. (Mrs), on behalf of the Registrar, Odum's suspension was confirmed. The letter instructed him to hand over all university documents in his possession to the Head of the Department. As part of the suspension, the university management directed Odum to stay away from his duty post. Additionally, the bursar was instructed to place him on half salary pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations. The university's decision to suspend Odum reflects its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. The investigation into the allegations is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on its findings.

 Denial of Canada visa – Nigerians should respect themselves – Ndume Lawmaker representing Borno South senatorial district at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ali Ndume, has suggested that leaders in the country do not accord themselves the needed respect before the international community. Ndume said this in reaction to recent denial of visa to Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, CDS, Gen. Christopher Musa by the High Commission of Canada in Nigeria. As DAILY POST earlier reported, Musa was scheduled to travel to Canada for an event in honour of the fallen heroes but was denied visa by the Canadian embassy in Nigeria.
