 SENATE CALLS FOR 100,000 ADDITIONAL MILITARY RECRUITMENT TO COMBAT INSECURITY The senate  is urging Nigeria's Armed Forces to immediate recruit at least 100,000 personnel to tackle insecurity in parts of the country. It is also to set up an adhoc committee to look into the funding, expenditure and outcome of the safe school programme. These and other resolutions were adopted following a motion on the Monday's abduction of 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi state. Senate strongly condemns the heinous act and sympathise with families of the victims. The Senate also mourns the murder of Brigadier General Uba and other military personnel  in Borno State.

There was pandemonium this morning, November 18, 2025, at the PDP national secretariart in Abuja among security officers as Governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, and Seyi Makinde's security aides escorted them into the PDP headquarters. According to News, the officers at first denied the governor entry until they were pushed back by security aides and supporters loyal to both governors. The party currently has two camps, namely Governor Seyi Makinde's camp, which held a national convention in Ibadan and produced Taminu Turaki as the new chairman of the party. The Imo State Police Command is set to arraign five men for the violent assault of a 55-year-old woman, Mrs. Ndidiamaka Agu, in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area. The state police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, disclosed this on Monday in Owerri. The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, had on November 3, 2025, ordered an investigation and arrest of six men seen b€ating Ndidiamaka in a circulating video. Okoye said that five of the suspects have been arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend the sixth suspect, currently on the run. The arrested men are Onyekachi Njoku, 40; Chiazor Osuji, 45; Chukwuma Iwuala, 46; Eugene Njoku; and Njoku Emmanuel, 35, all from Uboegbelu in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA. The announcement highlights a growing concern over the dangerous practice of dashing across busy roads—an act that has led to several avoidable injuries and fatalities in urban areas.  With the newly constructed and strategically positioned pedestrian bridges available, ACTDA says there is no further justification for unsafe road crossing habits.

UNICAL PROFESSOR  NDIFON BAGS 5-YEAR JAIL TERM FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT The federal high court sitting in Abuja  has convicted and sentenced the suspended dean of the faculty of law, university of Calabar, Unical, Prof. Cyril Ndifon to five years imprisonment for sexually harassing his female students.  The trial judge,  justice James Omotosho, found the university don guilty on two out of a four-count charge the independent corrupt practices and other related offences commission, ICPC, preferred him.  However, the court discharged and acquitted his co-defendant and lawyer, Sunny Anyanwu, who was accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice in the matter.  The court was of the view that the evidence the prosecution adduced before it, did not nail the 2nd defendant to the commission of any offence.  While justice omotosho Sentenced Prof. Ndifon to two years in prison in one of the counts of the charge that was sustained by the court, he was hande...

Many are now questioning why such violence continues even after a peace agreement was reached at the palace of the Chief of Takum. Despite the commitment to let peace reign, armed Fulani attackers reportedly crossed in from the Takum axis and struck again. The incident has raised deep concerns and renewed frustration within the community.  Makarfi Resigns As PDP BoT Secretary Over Zoning Concerns A former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has officially stepped down as Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees. In his resignation letter, Makarfi cited zoning considerations, noting that the emergence of a new National Chairman from his own geopolitical zone made his continued stay inappropriate.  Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have abducted Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, the Parish Priest of St Stephen Parish, Kushe Gugbu in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State,   The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025.   It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the Parish and seized the priest from his residence.   The Archdiocese of Kaduna confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Chancellor, Rev Fr Christian Okewu Emmanuel.    According to the statement, a brother to another priest, Rev Fr Anthony Yero was m8rdered by the terrorists during the attack.    Rev. Fr. Okewu also confirmed that many other persons were abducted by the gunmen.    “We call on all men and women of goodwill to join us in praying for their safety and quick release from the hands of their abductors and for the peaceful repose of the d3ad. Amen,” the statement added.
