 In a shocking terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, more than 26 people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday afternoon.  Most of the victims were tourists, including two foreigners and two locals. The terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow near the town, firing over 50 rounds at the crowd. This is the deadliest terror attack in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.  Enugu Govt cancels Saturday’s environmental sanitation exercise The Enugu State Government has announced the cancellation of this month’s environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025. A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia said the cancellation was to enable candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to participate in the exam scheduled for that day freely.   The government urged the good people and residents of the state to clean up their surroundings as usual, but emphasized that there would be no restriction of movement. Meanwhile, the Enugu State  Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has released an updated statement dated Tuesday, April 22, 2026 announcing the cancellation of the exercise.

The mining fees collected by licensing parastatal Mining Cadastral Office, MCO, came from 955 applications for title grants. Intelligence services intercepted communications between a Burkinabe soldier and armed group leaders, revealing the locations of Burkinabe troops and details of military operations, Sana said. The action was initially planned for April 16 against the presidency of Burkina Faso, the minister said. It was to coincide with several attacks carried out by armed groups.

 Governor Okpebholo Indefinitely Suspends Uwano Kingdom Monarch Over Surge in Kidnappings -April 22, 2025 |  Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has indefinitely suspended Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the traditional ruler of Uwano Kingdom in Agenebode (Etsako East LGA), over a series of kidnappings and killings in his domain.  In a statement dated April 21 and issued by his CPS, Fred Itua, the governor also announced the arrest of the monarch’s secretary, Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, following the fatal attack on Palace Chief John Ikhamate. Authorities recall that on March 3, gunmen abducted Catholic priest Philip Ekeli and seminarian Peter Andrew at St. Peter Catholic Church; Ekeli was later released, while Andrew was killed.

 Father Accidentally Kills Infant Son During Domestic Dispute in Abeokuta -22 April 2025 |  A one‑year‑old boy, Ayinde, died Saturday night in the Elega area of Abeokuta after his father, Olamide, swung an iron rod meant for his wife and struck the child instead.  Neighbours rushed the injured toddler to Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Olamide fled the scene but was later reported to have gone to a police station. Ogun State Police have opened an investigation into the tragic incident.

 Gunmen Kill Four, Injure Two in Kwara Motor Park Attack -22 April 2025 | Four people were killed and two others injured on Monday night when gunmen opened fire at a local joint near Ilesha Baruba Motor Park in Kwara State.  According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, about 10 armed men stormed the area around 9:30 p.m., shooting indiscriminately before fleeing. The victims include Alhaji Ja’awire, Abduljabar, Mohammed Nasamu, and one unidentified person.  Security personnel responded swiftly, moving the bodies to the Ilesha Baruba Morgue and rushing the injured to the hospital.

 Tension in Lagos as Two Bodies Found in Idimu, One Beheaded Panic spread across the Idimu area of Lagos State on Sunday after residents discovered the corpses of two men, one of whom had been beheaded. The incident reportedly took place late Saturday night, but the bodies were only found on Sunday morning along Oladun Road. Reports from the scene, shows the lifeless bodies were still on the ground, lying several meters apart. The gruesome discovery drew a crowd of shocked residents and passersby.

 NNPCL Sells N336bn Crude in Q1 2025, Dangote Refinery Buys 32% -April 22, 2025 | The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited earned N336.37bn from crude oil sales in Q1 2025, with Dangote Refinery accounting for N107.44bn (32%), internal NNPCL documents reveal. Seven crude cargoes, totaling 915,821 barrels, were sold to Dangote under the naira-for-crude deal at exchange rates between N1,501.22/$ and N1,562.91/$. The policy aims to reduce FX demand and stabilize fuel prices. NNPCL also sold 1.95 million barrels to foreign refiners, generating $151.44m (N228.93bn), mainly from Egina, Erha, and Forcados blends. The transactions highlight the firm’s balance between domestic supply and forex earnings.

 61 YEAR OLD MADALA TO APPLY FOR BAIL AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY RAPED HIS GRANDDAUGHTER ( 5 )  MANKWENG : A 61‑year‑old pensioner is appearing before the Mankweng Magistrates Court following his arrest a fortnight ago.  This after he allegedly raped his 5‑year‑old granddaughter in Toronto, Mankweng.  The incident was reported by the child’s grandmother.  The accused made his first court appearance on 14 April 2025; the case has been postponed today for a bail hearing.  Lentswe Laka Foundation calls on all organisations operating in and around Mankweng—community‑based groups, faith communities, schools, businesses, and local NGOs—to support the Molapisane family.

 632 Suspects Arrested in Limpopo During Operation Shanela (Kukula) Police in Limpopo arrested 632 suspects during Operation Shanela (Kukula), held from 14 to 20 April 2025. The operation aimed to keep communities safe during the Easter holidays. Different law enforcement units, including SAPS, SANDF, Home Affairs, and traffic officers, took part. During the operation: 34 illegal liquor outlets were closed, 23 roadblocks were held, 570 premises and 265 farms were searched, 213 second-hand shops were inspected and 2 firearms were recovered. Arrests included: 188 illegal immigrants, 37 for drunk driving, 4 for illegal firearms, 2 for murder, 4 for rape, 30 for illegal liquor sales, 3 for drug dealing and 15 for dangerous weapons 72 for assault GBH.  NSCDC Arrests 45-Year-Old for Railway Vandalism in Bauchi, Recovers Stolen Tracks -April 22, 2025 The Bauchi State Command of the NSCDC has arrested a 45-year-old man, Usman Jungudo, for railway vandalism and recovered stolen railway materials worth millions. Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde said the arrest followed intelligence from the DSS, leading to the recovery of a Peugeot J5 van loaded with vandalized components, including 53 sleepers, 14 fish plates, and 20 bags of charcoal. The suspect reportedly confessed to dismantling and selling the parts. Oyerinde vowed zero tolerance for vandalism and promised full prosecution. Investigations are ongoing.

  Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Monday that he is planning a new law where vehicle horns will sound like Indian musical instruments.  Speaking at the 78th Foundation Year Celebration of Navbharat Times, he mentioned that horns should be pleasant to hear and suggested sounds like flute, tabla, violin, and harmonium. Gadkari also spoke about the growing problem of air pollution, saying the transport sector is responsible for 40% of it. He added that the Modi government is encouraging the use of green and bio-fuels like methanol and ethanol to make transportation more environment-friendly. Highlighting the progress of India’s automobile sector, Gadkari said the industry has grown from ₹14 lakh crore in 2014 to ₹22 lakh crore now. The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by Acting Ward Chairman Nwabueze Ndumele and Secretary Ifeanyichukwu John, following a ward meeting held last Saturday at Okaiuga Civic Hall, Okwu Olokoro.
