  Akwa Ibom Deputy Gov Eyakenyi Loses Daughter The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi has lost her daughter Dr. Eyankeyi Blessing, who passed away today.  According to reports, Mrs. Blessing, who tied the knot just seven months ago, succumbed to complications arising from childbirth.   She passed away at a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It was also gathered that she also lost her baby in the process Sympathies and messages of condolence have been pouring in from government officials, politicians, and friends, offering support to the grieving family during this difficult time.  Indianapolis man arrested after being captured in a shocking doorbell camera video screaming death threats to a minor and punching the minor child. This outrageous incident happened at Heatherwood Estates on the 25th, Saturday.  An Indiana man, 45-year-old Jason Harrell, has been arrested and charged with battery and battery with injuries to a minor following an incident that has left many in the community outraged.  In the video shared on social media you can see the young child sitting on a small motorcycle. He appears to simply be "playing" around in a snow drift when Jason Harrell suddenly pulls up in a white van.   Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Abia State chapter, have continued their ongoing strike despite two different agreements they signed with the Abia State government. While the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, announced last week that an agreement had been reached with the JUSUN members to call off the strike, JUSUN, led by Chinedu Ezeh, has insisted that they will only return to work if the state government pays money into their accounts, apart from the over N300 million released by the state government in December. JUSUNā€™s demands include old and new minimum wage welfare packages, among others, while the state government has maintained that it has been doing a lot for the benefit of judiciary staff in the state. The government had last week announced its decision to recruit about 2,500 teachers in public schools across the state. In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Alex Otti emphasised the commitment of his administration to a transparent and merit-based selection process. The statement said the recruitment aimed to revive the stateā€™s education sector, which had faced challenges over the years. DEMOCRACY FAILING TO ADDRESS POVERTY, LOSING CREDIBILITY-PETER OBI. (PHOTO).

  Politician and a former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has said described Nigeriaā€™s democracy as ā€œfast losing its essenceā€ as a result of deep-necked poverty ravaging the country. He disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Monday. According to him, the number of Nigerians living in poverty is alarming, a situation which he said democracy was supposed to address. He called on leaders to address poverty in the land by prioritising and strengthening independent institutions and delivering of economic progress to the people. He argued that for democracy in Africa to thrive beyond its current fragile state, it must operate within its foundational tenets, going beyond ceremonial elections. This requires building critical institutions that command trust and deliver absolute respect for the peopleā€™s will.
