Image
Nigeria drifting towards dictatorship if not checked, Ozekhome warns Renowned Nigerian constitutional lawyer and human rights advocate, Professor Mike Ozekhome, (SAN), has issued a warning that Nigeria is “gradually driving without knowing it towards a one-party state,” a trajectory he believes could lead to full-blown dictatorship if not actively resisted by the populace. Speaking on Channels Television’s “Hard Copy” program on Saturday, Ozekhome expressed deep concern over the current political landscape, lamenting what he described as “bootlicking at its highest level” and the increasing trend of political decampments and cross-carpeting by elected officials. He argued that such actions demonstrate a lack of ideological grounding among politicians, who appear to prioritise personal gain over party principles. “It’s like beans, akara, and moi-moi; they’re the same,” Ozekhome stated, criticising the lack of scruples among those who switch parties. He contended that this erosion o...

Issues in Fuji caused by ego, says Atawewe Popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio Atawewe, has spoken candidly about his relationship with fellow Fuji stars, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Saheed Osupa, revealing that what many perceive as deep rivalries in the genre often stem from ego and self-respect rather than real conflict. In a recent chat, Atawewe addressed long-standing speculations about tensions among Fuji artistes, particularly between him and Pasuma, with whom he has shared the stage and spotlight for years. “Myself and Pasuma have been together for a long time and we know how to solve our issues whenever any arises. Yes he is older than me but I can’t call him ‘bros’ because we were not born by the same parents but I accord him the respect he deserves. We are all grown ups and we know that respect is reciprocal,” he said. Atawewe also took the opportunity to clear the air on his relationship with Saheed Osupa, another prominent name in the Fuji scene, noting that contra...

MISLEADING ADVERT MADE MILEY CYRUS FANS TO BUY MOVIE TICKETS THINKING IT WAS HER MUSIC SHOW. (PHOTO).

Image
What started as an elegant film premiere turned into an uncomfortable situation for Miley Cyrus at the Tribeca Film Festival last night. Fans who paid $800+ for tickets began heckling the singer, shouting "We thought this was a concert!" during her "Something Beautiful" visual album screening.    The confusion stemmed from misleading ticket descriptions on resale platforms that advertised "MILEY CYRUS LIVE" without clarifying it was a film festival event, not a concert. Despite the disruption, Cyrus gracefully handled the situation by performing an impromptu a cappella version of "The Climb" to appease frustrated attendees. This incident raises questions about ticket marketing transparency and fan expectations.

India retaliated by targeting what it described as terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan, leading to further escalation until a ceasefire was established on May 10. Lammy emphasized the importance of main...

According to the aide, “We didn’t ignore the Ọọ̀ni during the visit. We reached out to the palace but were informed that the Ọọ̀ni was not available. In fact, the Ọọ̀ni’s palace was the first on our initial itinerary, but due to the situation, we had to proceed to visit the Oluwo first.” It’s worth noting that the Aláàfin, following his coronation, has visited several prominent monarchs across Nigeria, but his apparent omission of Ilé Ifẹ̀ has not gone unnoticed.  Airport security doing their job right! Benicio del Toro got stopped at TSA in Boston when agents found his "Phoenician Scheme" script in his carry-on.  The opening scenes read "Interior: Airplane. Bomb," "Interior: Cockpit. Eject the pilot," and "Crash"  which understandably raised red flags.   After explaining it was a Wes Anderson film script, five TSA agents investigated before a supervisor (who may have recognized him from "Traffic" or "Sicario") cleared him to fly. The Oscar winner's response was pure grace - he gave the original agent a thumbs-up for being attentive. In today's world, we need security personnel who pay attention to details, even if it means a few extra minutes at the checkpoint.

They’ve held powerful offices since 1999. If the country is still struggling, then they bear some responsibility,” Sani said. He blamed the prevailing hunger, unemployment, and insecurity on years of poor governance, failed policies, and neglect by leaders who had ample opportunity to create lasting change. “It is shameless for those who contributed to this crisis to now speak as if they were never part...
