Netanyahu says Israel and Hamas set to enter second phase of ceasefire soon  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel and Hamas are expected to move “very shortly” into the second phase of the ceasefire, following the return of the last hostage remains from Gaza. Speaking alongside visiting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Netanyahu said the next stage, which includes disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza, could begin by the end of the month. The final remains of 24-year-old police officer Ran Gvili, killed in the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack, have yet to be returned. The second phase of the U.S.-crafted ceasefire plan also calls for an international force to secure Gaza and the establishment of a temporary Palestinian government to manage daily affairs under an internationally supervised board led by U.S. President Donald Trump. Netanyahu acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying that while the first phase seemed impossible to many, the second stage—a...

‎‎PRESS RELEASE ‎ PEACEFUL PROTEST BY RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS: POLICE SETS RECORDS STRAIGHT, ASSURES OF SECURITY, PRESERVATION OF DIGNITY ‎ ‎The Nigeria Police Force has noted the ongoing conversations surrounding the peaceful protest being organised by some of our retired officers in relation to their pension entitlements. While some of these accounts are grounded in fact and driven by good faith, others have been marred by misinformation, emotional manipulation, and calculated distortions designed to discredit the Government and undermine the present leadership of the Nigeria Police Force. It is disheartening to observe how certain actors have chosen to politicise a sensitive welfare issue, weaponizing the legitimate grievances of our retired colleagues for ulterior motives. Their intent is not reform, but disruption. Their tactics involve twisting facts, inflaming sentiments, and sowing distrust in the public space. These actions do a disservice not only to our noble institutio...

Eritrean president warns Ethiopia against war Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki has warned neighbour Ethiopia against launching a new war between the two countries, with tensions high in the Horn of Africa region, AFP reported. Eritrea and Ethiopia have had fraught relations since the former declared independence in 1993, with tens of thousands of people killed in a war between the two from 1998 to 2000. At the heart of the current tension, according to the Eritrean government, is landlocked Ethiopia's long-held desire for a seaport. Afwerki, who has ruled Eritrea since independence, told Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that he would not be able to simply overwhelm his country by weight of numbers – Ethiopia's population is 130 million, compared to just 3.5 million people living in Eritrea. 'Unwanted wars' "If he thinks he can overwhelm (Eritrean forces) with human wave attack, (he is mistaken)," Afwerki told state television channel Eri-TV. "Before ...

APOLOGY TO AISHA BUHARI- BY FAROOQ KPEROGI. (PHOTO).

Image
Apology to Aisha Buhari By Farooq Kperogi Although I absolutely should have foreseen it, I honestly didn’t anticipate the profoundly painful consequences that my July 16 Facebook update titled “Aisha Buhari, Divorce, and Forgiveness Claim” would have on former First Lady Mrs. Aisha Buhari and people closest to her.  It’s one of the worst and cruelest lapses of judgement I have ever committed in my life, and it has been a source of unfathomable personal anguish for me these past few days. My source, whose integrity is unimpeachable, insists the information is accurate, but never intended for it to become public. Going public with the information was an error on my part, as not every well-sourced information is for public consumption. On the other side, Alhaji Sani Zorro, former SSA to the First Lady on Public Affairs, whom I hold in the highest esteem, has reached out to question the accuracy of my claims. I will not contest the particulars and veracity of the information with...

Speaking to journalists over the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Akinmade expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s lingering dependency on medical tourism, especially by political elites and affluent citizens. He emphasized that it is time for the government to prioritize and invest in world-class health infrastructure within the country.  “With the level of equipment, expertise, and international-standard care available at ABUAD Hospital, we are confident that we could have sustained the former President’s health and prolonged his life,” he said. Describing the hospital as the best-equipped in Sub-Saharan Africa, the CMD highlighted its cutting-edge techn...

A BELOVED HORSE FOLLOWED THE HEARSE CARRYING AN 8-YEAR-OLD VICTIM OF THE TEXAS FLOODS.(PHOTOS).

Image
A beloved horse followed the hearse carrying an 8-year-old victim of the Texas Floods. In a sweet and heartbreaking tribute to Virginia Hollis, her grandfather led her horse, 'Salt Valley', behind the hearse during her funeral procession on Wednesday, July 16th. Virginia was one of the 27 people from Camp Mystic who lost their lives in the July 4th floods. It was several painful days before authorities were able to locate and recover Virginia. Her funeral was held in Bellville, Texas on Wednesday. Residents lined the streets to show respect for the young girl taken away much too soon.  Virginia's parents say she was a little cowgirl who loved the rodeo. It only seems fitting that her horse be present as she was laid to rest.  Our thoughts are with the family of Virginia Hollis and all the families picking up the pieces after that devastating day.
