 Marion county, Illinois- a former elected official has been denied pretrial release following seven felony counts of child abuse.  Troy Cannon, the recent former coroner of Marion County, just appeared in court at the Marion County Courthouse. Cannon asked for a medical release and was denied. His attorney argued that the children in question were in a different county and asked for his client to be released, however this was denied due to the earlier finding of the court that Cannon should remain in jail due to all available monitoring not  being enough to protect minor females in the community.  Canon has pleaded not guilty to the seven felony counts of child a****.  RTEAN, NURTW Protest Removal of Speed Breakers on Ilorin–Jebba Highway Transport unions RTEAN and NURTW, joined by residents, protested in Kwara on Wednesday over the removal of speed breakers on the Oko-Olowo section of the Ilorin–Jebba Expressway.  The unions blamed the dismantling, done by a federal contractor, for a spike in fatal accidents and demanded urgent reinstatement. They warned of statewide action if federal authorities fail to restore the safety structures.

 Anambra State Government Arrests Illegal Revenue Collectors In Nnewi Anambra State Government has arrested some illegal revenue collectors who molest commercial motorcyclists, wheelbarrow pushers, hawkers among others at Okada White House Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area. Parading the suspects, the Commander in charge of illegal revenue collection in Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), Comrade Nathan Obikwelu said that the suspects were arrested collecting money from motorcycle operators, hawkers and wheelbarrow pushers which Governor Chukwuma Soludo has banned in the State.  Indecent dressing now attracts a fine of N50k in Delta state  The Delta State Police Command has warned residents that indecent dressing will attract penalties under the state’s Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law. The command issued the warning in a post shared via its X handle  According to the post, individuals found guilty of indecent dressing risk a fine of ₦50,000 or a sentence of community service.  Court Jails Man One Year For $5000 Money Laundering in Lagos Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced one Mbonu Somto to one year imprisonment for money laundering. Somto was arraigned on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 on a one-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $5000 (Five Thousand United States Dollars) brought against him by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.  Partial Verdict Reached in Diddy Sex Trafficking Trial A New York jury has reached a verdict on four of five charges against Sean “Diddy” Combs  but not the most serious charge of racketeering conspiracy. Jurors are divided and say some members have “unpersuadable views” on both sides. Rather than accepting a partial verdict, Judge Arun Subramanian ordered the jury to keep deliberating. The racketeering charge, which falls under RICO law, includes serious allegations of organized drug distribution, abuse, and sexual exploitation  and could land Combs in prison for life. ⚖️ The deliberations continue tomorrow.  South Worst Hit as Cult Clashes Claim 1,686 Lives in Five Years At least 1,686 people were killed in 909 cult-related incidents across Nigeria between January 2020 and March 2025, with the South-South and South-West most affected, a new SBM Intelligence report reveals.  Rivers, Lagos, and Edo led in fatalities, while cult groups like Aiye, Eiye, Vikings, and Icelanders dominated the violence. Edo, Ogun, and Delta accounted for over half of the total deaths. The North recorded minimal gang activity due to the presence of terror groups.

 Abia Lawmaker Slams Police for Unlawful Arrests of Sanitation Offenders, Urges CP Intervention Kalu Mba-Nwoke, the lawmaker representing Ohafia South State Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, has condemned the indiscriminate arrest and detention of sanitation law violators by police officers without proper arraignment in Abia State’s Mobile Court. Speaking after monitoring the June sanitation exercise, Mba-Nwoke described the officers’ actions as “sabotage” against the state’s environmental laws.  US MAY REVOKE CITIZENSHIP OF 25 MILLION IMMIGRANTS  The Trump administration has directed the Justice Department to consider revoking the citizenship of 25 million immigrants that became naturalized in the United States. The focus of the denaturalization agenda is on American citizens born abroad but who returned home to the US for citizenship. This category also includes citizens that provided untrue information during the naturalization process or those that committed crimes in the society. In revoking their citizenship, affected immigrants will not have access to legal representation and the government will have little to no burden of proof in trying them.

 KAZAKHSTAN BANS GARMENTS THAT COVER FACES After Uzbekistan banned garments that cover people's faces in 2023 and Kyrgyzstan did the same in January 2025, Kazakhstan government has announced a ban on face-covering garments in public. Muslim women usually wear niqab and burqa to cover their entire bodies in public, but Kazakhstan is now citing security concerns as a reason for the prohibition. “Wearing items of clothing in public places that impede facial recognition is prohibited, except in cases where this is necessary to comply with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, fulfill official duties or for medical, civil defense, weather-related or event-specific purposes,” a new law reportedly states. The new law implementing the ban was reportedly signed by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
