A MANHUNT IS UNDERWAY FOR MAN WHO SHOT A GRANITE CITY POLICE OFFICER MULTIPLE TIMES.(PHOTO).

  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. NFF apologises to Tinubu, Nigerians for failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has tendered a heartfelt apology to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian citizens following the Super Eagles’ Sunday defeat and disqualification in the World Cup Qualifiers Playoff against DR Congo.  DR Congo came back from a goal down to beat Nigeria 4-3 on penalties in a tightly-contested African play-offs final on Sunday, November 16, to pick Africa’s sole ticket for the intercontinental play-offs billed for March next year.  Why petrol pump prices dropped nationwide — Dangote Refinery Dangote Refinery has explained the reasons for the reduced pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit at filling stations nationwide. The clarification comes amid speculations of government policy-induced reduction. The Dangote Refinery, in a statement made available to Channels Television, revealed that the cut in pump price was a result of a 5.6 per cent reduction in the price of PMS from its refinery, and does not have any link with the suspension of 15 per cent import tariffs by the Federal Government.  Court to hear motion for prosecution of FCTA Land director over alleged forgery The Federal High Court, Abuja, will hear on Nov. 26 a motion seeking to compel the police to investigate and prosecute FCTA Lands Director, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, for allegedly presenting a forged OND certificate from Kwara State Polytechnic.  The motion, filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Dependable Patriots for Nation Building, claims Nwankwoeze used the fake certificate to gain civil service employment.  Customs intercepts lion cub, monkeys on Badagry–Seme road The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Command, has intercepted a vehicle transporting a lion cub and two Patas monkeys during a stop-and-search along the Badagry–Seme Expressway. The animals, allegedly bought in Kano and headed for Benin Republic, were seized and handed over to the Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative. Two suspects were arrested as the command investigates possible links to a wider wildlife trafficking network.

 GUNMEN SEIZE BENUE COMMERCIAL BUS, KILL DRIVER & KIDNAP ALL PASSENGERS ON OGOBIA-ADOKA ROAD.  Suspected kidnappers struck again in Benue State, hijacking a fully loaded commercial vehicle along the Ogobia–Adoka road and killing its driver before whisking all passengers into the bush. The attack, which occurred over the weekend in Otukpo Local Government Area, has sent fresh shockwaves through nearby communities. According to local sources, the gunmen ambushed the vehicle, forced it off the road, and fatally shot the driver, identified as Arrow of God from Aila community in Agatu LGA, before seizing the passengers. This latest incident adds to growing concerns about rising insecurity on the Ogobia–Adoka corridor.  Malami declares 2027 Kebbi governorship bid, says he'll salvage state Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation (AGF), has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi state. Malami announced his ambition during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday. The former AGF said he has the support of residents across the state. “INEC guidelines do not allow us to begin any form of mobilisation yet, but I assure you that when the time comes, you will see that we have the support of the people of Kebbi state,” he said. “I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win because we have people who believe in us, and we will not let them down.” Malami criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the ruling party had caused hardship, especially in the northern region.

Gunmen abduct 25 schoolgirls, kill vice principal in Kebbi  Gunmen have attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi state. In a statement, Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, spokesperson of the Kebbi police command, said the assailants abducted 25 students during the attack. He added that they were “armed with sophisticated weapons” and “stormed the school around 4:00am, engaging police personnel on duty in a gun duel”. The police confirmed that Hassan Makuku, the school’s vice principal, lost his life during the attack, while Ali Shehu, a security guard, sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand.

 ‘We did our best’ — Nwabali apologises to Nigerians after World Cup playoff loss Stanley Nwabali said the Super Eagles “did our best for the badge” throughout their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing to DR Congo 4-3 on penalties in the final of the African playoffs. The match had ended 1-1 after extra time. Nwabali saved two kicks in the shootout, but it was not enough to cancel out misses from Calvin Bassey, Moses Simon and Semi Ajayi. Chancel Mbemba scored the winning penalty kick to send the DR Congo into the intercontinental playoffs for the World Cup. In a post on Instagram after the match, Nwabali said he was once a fan of the Super Eagles and understands “how it feels giving you a disappointing night”. He added that the team’s “best wasn’t enough” and the players “take full responsibility”.
