 Adamu Garba Calls  A State of Emergency in Edo State, Gives Reason A member of the All Progressive Congress, Adamu Garba, popularly known for being vocal on political issues, has called for the declaration of a State of Emergency in Edo State. According to the post he made on his X account, this was necessary due to the killing of Hausa travellers on their way to celebrate Sallah. He wrote: “If there is any place that needed urgent state of emergency right very this moment is the Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Edo State. The butchers of that community MUST be held to account for killing innocent Hausa travelers. They were killed fasting , while on their way back home for Sallah holiday.  Guinea’s former dictator pardoned over the 2009 stadium massacre Guinea’s ruling junta has pardoned the country’s former dictator, Moussa “Dadis” Camara, who was serving a 20-prison sentence for the 2009 stadium massacre by the military, according to a decree read on state television, AP reported. Camara was sentenced in July 2024 after he was found guilty of crimes against humanity in the deaths of at least 157 people at the stadium. Dozens of women were also raped. Troops opened fire on demonstrators at the stadium who were protesting Camara’s plans to run for president, a year after staging a coup.  Edo Mayhem: Police Confirm 7 Deaths, Arrest of 14 Suspects A tragic incident occurred in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, resulting in the deaths of seven people suspected to be kidnappers. According to Moses Yamu, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.  The Kano State High Court, Kano, on Friday, sentenced a housewife, Fadila Adamu, to death by hanging for the murder of her childhood friend’s eight-year-old daughter, Aisha Sani.  In 2019, Fadila kidnapped the minor on her way home from Islamiyya school and threw her into a well, causing her death.  Aisha’s corpse was discovered in the well at Gandu Albasa Quarters two weeks after she went missing.  The defendant, who lived at the Sabuwar Gandu Quarters Kano, was convicted of kidnapping and culpable homicide. Delivering judgement, trial judge Yusuf Muhammad-Ubale ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the defendant to death by hanging. “I hereby sentence the defendant to death by hanging for kidnapping and throwing the victim into a well which caused her d3ath,” he ruled.
