DEM SAY DEY DON CHANG THE NAME OF CHARLY BOY BUS STOP. HMMM. VERY INTERESTING- CHARLY-BOY. (PHOTO).

Image
Dem say dey don  chang the name of Charly Boy Bus Stop. Hmmm. Very interesting. But let me remind you of something simple: You can rename a place… but you can’t rename a legacy. You can replace the signboard… but you can’t erase the spirit. And you definitely can’t silence a voice that shook your tables for decades! This is not just about a bus stop. This is about fear. Fear of a boy who refused to bow. Fear of a man who challenged the oppressors. Fear of a man who didn’t beg the system to be accepted. So what do timid people do? They change the name like e go wash away their shame. Bariga, Gbagada, the entire Lagos knows the truth. That name Charly Boy Bus Stop was not given by politicians. It was named by the people the same people Fada fought for, walked with, and empowered. They may change the signboard. They may pretend not to remember. But let me remind them Area Fada no dey Finish. He didn’t need to sing sweet songs to be accepted. He didn’t need to wear agbada to beg ...

Kwankwaso had on Thursday, lamented that Tinubu’s administration neglected the northern region, stating that the federal government concentrates national resources on developing only the southern part of the country. However, the presidency, in a statement signed by Tinubu’s media aide, Sunday Dare dismissed the claim by reeling out some critical projects the current administration have so far executed in the northern region. FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS AMAZON FROM APPEALING FTC SUBSCRIPTION CASE. (PHOTO).

Image
Federal judge blocks Amazon from appealing FTC subscription case A federal judge on Friday refused to grant Amazon permission to appeal several of his rulings in the ongoing legal battle with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations that the company deceived customers into signing up for Prime memberships and then made cancellation difficult. U.S. District Judge John H. Chun, appointed by President Joe Biden, cited concerns over the tight timeline, noting that Amazon filed its appeal request only four months before the trial was set to begin. In his 14-page decision, Judge Chun explained that allowing the appeal would likely delay the trial, as the parties would struggle to complete appellate briefing and receive a ruling from the Ninth Circuit in time. He also criticized Amazon for raising the request late in the process, saying it would not simplify or speed up court proceedings. The FTC’s lawsuit, filed in June 2023 in Washington’s Western District, accuses Amazon of misleading...

Chicago faces new flash flood threat as ‘tropical-like’ airmass spans Iowa to Pennsylvania  Another day of scattered heavy thunderstorms within a “tropical-like” air mass on Saturday has renewed the threat of flash flooding across several states from Iowa to Pennsylvania, including Chicago and the outskirts of Pittsburgh.  These storms are developing along a nearly stationary front that borders a massive heat dome, which has been causing extreme heat across much of the nation this week. While the heat dome contracted Saturday to mainly impact the coastal Southeast and mid-Atlantic with triple-digit temperatures, thunderstorms forming along its edge are drawing energy from a highly unstable and moist atmosphere. Although the chance of severe weather remains low, some thunderstorms could produce rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour and may stall or move repeatedly over the same areas. Similar storms caused significant flooding in South Chicago on Friday, dumping 4 to 6 inches ...

Judge blocks Trump’s birthright citizenship order in third ruling since Supreme Court ruling A federal judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration from ending birthright citizenship for children born to parents in the U.S. illegally, marking the third nationwide court ruling against the order since a pivotal Supreme Court decision in June. U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin upheld a nationwide injunction granted to more than a dozen states, citing an exception to the Supreme Court’s limitation on lower courts issuing broad nationwide injunctions. The states argue that the birthright citizenship order is unconstitutional and threatens millions in funding for health and social services tied to citizenship status. Sorokin rejected the government’s request to narrow the injunction, saying a fragmented approach would fail to protect the states due to population movement across borders. He criticized the administration for failing to explain how a limited injunction would work without impo...
