Family and neighbors mourn woman shot by ICE agent after making Minneapolis her home  Before she was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, 37-year-old Renee Good had just dropped her youngest child off at an elementary school in Minneapolis, the city she and her family had recently begun to call home. As Trump administration officials continued Thursday to describe Good as a domestic terrorist who tried to ram federal agents with her Honda Pilot, those who knew her remembered someone very different: a gentle, kind, and openhearted mother, wife, and neighbor. Good, her wife and her 6-year-old son had recently moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to a quiet Minneapolis neighborhood lined with older homes and small apartment buildings. Some front porches were still decorated with pride flags and lingering holiday lights. In the days following her death, neighbors grew weary of media attention. One handwritten sign taped to a front door read, “NO MEDIA ...

M23's assault comes less than a year after the rebel group seized control of Goma and Bukavu, two key provincial capitals in the mineral-rich eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, which has been plagued by conflict for three decades. Its latest rapid advance – launched on December 1 in South Kivu province against a Congolese army backed by Burundian forces – also comes just days after the signing of an agreement aimed at ending the conflict brokered by US President Donald Trump. Image
Gene Simmons calls on Congress to approve radio royalties  Gene Simmons, the longtime KISS bassist, swapped his signature stage look for a suit as he testified before the Senate Judiciary Intellectual Property Subcommittee on Tuesday, advocating for a bill that would pay artists royalties when their songs are played on terrestrial radio. The legislation, reintroduced in January by Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., would require AM/FM radio broadcasters to compensate copyright holders for airplay. Simmons stressed the importance of fair treatment for musicians, likening the lack of royalties to treating performers “worse than slaves” compared with icons like Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra, who also received little compensation for their work. Music royalties for radio have been a contentious issue for years. While digital streaming services now pay artists, traditional radio does not, a disparity highlighted by SoundExchange CEO Michael Huppe during the hearing. He noted that ar...
