 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

Benue Deputy Governor Condoles with Family of Slain Immigration Comptroller in Otukpo


Benue State Deputy Governor, Sam Ode, has visited Otukpo to commiserate with the family of retired Immigration Comptroller Akatu Onche, who was gruesomely murdered by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Asa II on March 31, 2025. The attack also led to the abduction of three individuals, including a couple.


Prior to the condolence visit, Ode convened a high-level security meeting at the palace of the Idoma traditional ruler, HRM Agabaidu Elaigwu John Odogbo, alongside key government officials and security heads.


Speaking on behalf of Governor Hyacinth Alia, Ode directed security agencies to expedite efforts in capturing the attackers and securing the release of the kidnapped victims. He also visited the Och’Otukpo, HRH John Eimonye, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening security in the region.


The visit comes amid heightened concerns over rising insecurity in Otukpo, with residents demanding swift government action to curb violent crimes.
