 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  LASG BEGINS DISTRIBUTION OF TEXTBOOKS TO PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS, REINFORCING COMMITMENT TO QUALITY EDUCATION


The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has commenced the distribution of textbooks to public secondary schools across the state. This initiative aims to democratize access to quality education and empower students with the necessary tools to excel academically.


Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, emphasised the transformative power of education in shaping the destiny of individuals, communities, and nations at the launch event, held at the Lagos State Education Resource Centre, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.


He noted that the provision of textbooks is a strategic investment in the future of Lagos' children, fostering a culture of meritocracy and aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.


The initiative, which will be in phases, prioritises Education and Technology, Social Inclusion, and Youth Development, strengthening students' proficiency in English Language and Mathematics, reducing financial burdens on parents, and promoting equity and inclusivity. 


Alli-Balogun emphasised that the textbook distribution demonstrates the State Government's commitment to quality education, capacity building, and student empowerment.


The Lagos State Government's initiative reinforces its position as a trailblazer in public education delivery in Nigeria, aiming to yield improved academic performance, increased motivation, and greater equity in access to learning materials.


The event was attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, school administrators, and representatives of various districts.
