The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has clarified that no Nigerian student on a valid Federal Government scholarship has been abandoned. All beneficiaries duly enrolled under the Bilateral Education Scholarship (BES) Programme prior to 2024 have received payments up to the 2024 budget year, in line with the Federal Government’s obligations. Any temporary delays in outstanding payments are attributable to fiscal constraints and are currently being addressed through ongoing engagements between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.  MISSING GIRL CASE TAKES NEW TURN AS WOMAN CLAIMS MOTHERHOOD  28th December, 2025   An update has emerged in the case of the young girl who reportedly missed her way in Makurdi, Benue State, with a woman coming forward in the early hours of Sunday to claim she is the child’s biological mother. At about 2:30 a.m., Mrs. Doo Bridget Sombu contacted concerned parties, stating that the girl is her daughter. However, conflicting details have raised fresh questions. While the girl identified herself as Anadoo Celina Mbuew, Mrs. Sombu said the child’s real name is Mimidoo Michelle Sombo. The girl also claimed her parents are based in Gboko, adding that she travelled from Gboko to Makurdi to visit her aunt, Mrs. Happiness Iornem.  POLICE FOIL CHRISTMAS DAY KIDNAP ATTEMPT IN BENUE, RESCUE VICTIM UNHURT  27th December, 2025    The Benue State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a victim unhurt in the early hours of Thursday, December 25, 2025. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. in the Tiortu area as the victim, identified as Akume Geoffrey, was travelling from Gboko to Makurdi. He was reportedly accosted by armed men suspected to be kidnappers and forcefully taken towards a nearby forest. Police sources said operatives swiftly mobilised after receiving a distress alert, launching intensive patrols and a coordinated search of the area. On sighting the police team and hearing sirens, the suspects abandoned the victim and fled into the forest. The victim was rescued without injury and no ransom was paid.  2026 Budget: Commissioner Explains N100m Allocation To Kaduna Wards Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has described the allocation of N100 million to each of the state’s 255 wards in the 2026 budget as a landmark decision aimed at strengthening grassroots development. The Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Mukhtar Ahmed Morovia, made this known during a post-budget press briefing following the signing of the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.  On December 26, 2025, aspiring actor Mario Rodriguez filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against filmmaker Tyler Perry, alleging sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress from incidents said to have occurred between 2015 and 2019.  Perry Bamonte, longtime guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, has passed away at the age of 65 following a short illness at home over Christmas. Born in London on September 3, 1960, he joined the band's circle in 1984 as a roadie and later became Robert Smith's guitar technician before becoming a full member in 1990. He contributed to albums including Wish (1992), Wild Mood Swings (1996), Bloodflowers (2000), and The Cure (2004), performing in hundreds of shows during his 14-year tenure until 2005. He rejoined The Cure in 2022 for the Shows of a Lost World tour, playing dozens of concerts up to their final show in London on November 1, 2024. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2019.The band remembered him as "quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative," affectionately known as "Teddy," and a warm-hearted vital part of their story. Thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
