 Raw oysters linked to US salmonella outbreak, with over a dozen sick in NY, NJ, CT Health officials report a Salmonella outbreak linked to raw oysters has sickened dozens of people across the U.S., including residents in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Tuesday that 64 people have been infected with the same strain of Salmonella, with 26 cases reported since early November. Hospitalizations have been higher than expected compared with typical Salmonella outbreaks. The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Chukwuleta Ndubuisi, had last week claimed that he handed over N265m worth of fake drugs from the market to the Enugu Zonal office of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control. Ndubuisi said some of the goods were seized in 2024 while others were confiscated after a three-month raid of the market in 2025. Explosion rocks mosque in Maiduguri An Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) exploded in a mosque at Gamboru Main Market in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital today December 24. According to reports, the explosion occurred while the Muslim faithfuls were conducting their Magrib prayers at about 6pm. Mexican Navy medical flight lost contact for several minutes before crashing in Texas  Air traffic controllers lost contact for roughly 10 minutes with a small Mexican Navy plane carrying a young medical patient and seven others before it crashed near the Texas coast, killing at least five people, Mexico’s president said Tuesday. Officials initially believed the aircraft had landed safely in Galveston, near Houston, before learning Monday afternoon that it had gone down. A search-and-rescue operation recovered two survivors from the wreckage, while one person remained missing, according to Mexico’s Navy.  Libyan delegation visits site of army chief's plane crash in Türkiye A group of military officials from Libya has visited the site near Turkish capital, Ankara, where a plane crashed on Tuesday, killing Libyan Chief of General Staff General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad alongside his delegation and three crew members. The Libyan officials arrived in Ankara on Wednesday and travelled to Kesikkavak in Ankara’s Haymana district, where the jet went down, killing everyone on board.  BENUE: FULANI HERDSMEN KILL 5, BLOCK ORTESE-YOGBO ROAD  Serious tension has gripped Ortese in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a violent attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen.  Fire outbreak at Terminus market Raized Over 20 Shops  A fire outbreak has razed about 20 makeshift shops at the Yankwalli side of Terminus market , destorying  property worth millions of naira. Eyewitnesses say the fire started around nine  o'clock Tuesday evening.  Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained by authorities.  As at the time of filling this report the fire is still smouldering. Victims and witnesses commended the Fire service and security operatives for their prompt response.
