The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has clarified that no Nigerian student on a valid Federal Government scholarship has been abandoned. All beneficiaries duly enrolled under the Bilateral Education Scholarship (BES) Programme prior to 2024 have received payments up to the 2024 budget year, in line with the Federal Government’s obligations.  Onitsha market traders dismiss claims of N265m fake drugs Some traders at the Onitsha Drug Market, popularly called Ogbo-Ogwu Bridgehead Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, under the aegis of ‘Concerned and Genuine Members of Ogbo-Ogwu Market and Justice for Ogbo-Ogwu’, have dismissed the claims that another fake drugs worth over N265millon was discovered in the market. The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Chukwuleta Ndubuisi, had last week claimed that he handed over N265m worth of fake drugs from the market to the Enugu Zonal office of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control. Ndubuisi said some of the goods were seized in 2024 while others were confiscated after a three-month raid of the market in 2025. Explosion rocks mosque in Maiduguri An Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) exploded in a mosque at Gamboru Main Market in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital today December 24. According to reports, the explosion occurred while the Muslim faithfuls were conducting their Magrib prayers at about 6pm. The Mosque usually hosts many people including traders and sellers who patronizes the Gamboru market on daily basis. The state police command is yet to comment on this development.  Rob and Michele Reiner’s death certificates made public The death certificates for Rob and Michele Reiner have been officially released, offering the family additional closure. The documents, issued by the Los Angeles County Public Health Department, confirm that both deaths were homicides caused by multiple sharp force injuries, described in the certificates as “with knife, by another.” The couple was cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary, and their remains are now at the home of their son, Jake. Rob and Michele were found dead on December 14 in their Brentwood residence. Their daughter, Romy, discovered the bodies and told authorities that her brother Nick, who lived with their parents, should be considered a suspect. Nick has been charged with their murders and is expected to enter an insanity plea.

The case began in November 2023 when Andy Stone and Troy Powers claimed that Carey had copied their 1989 song of the same name and sought at least $20 million in damages. The judge dismissed the lawsuit in March, ruling that it lacked merit. In the latest ruling, the court determined that sanctions were warranted to discourage baseless legal claims, ordering the plaintiffs to pay $92,303.20 to Carey and additional amounts to other parties involved, bringing the total close to $110,000.

According to her, she has endured the abusive marriage for a long time because of her children, hoping things would eventually change.  LASG TO STEP UP CONTROL OF INFORMAL SPACES ACROSS STATE The Lagos State Government has stated that it is set to take decisive steps to regulate and administer informal spaces across the state, in line with its physical planning mandate. The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide made this known on Tuesday while outlining the Ministry’s strategic direction for the coming year.  He explained that the Ministry would invoke the powers conferred on it by the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law, 2019 (as amended) to ensure orderly use of land and sustainable urban growth.  Fire outbreak at Terminus market Raized Over 20 Shops  A fire outbreak has razed about 20 makeshift shops at the Yankwalli side of Terminus market , destorying  property worth millions of naira. Eyewitnesses say the fire started around nine  o'clock Tuesday evening.  Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained by authorities.  As at the time of filling this report the fire is still smouldering. Victims and witnesses commended the Fire service and security operatives for their prompt response.
