 Obi, lawmakers, Obidients set to defect to ADC on Wednesday Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections is poised for a reshaping, as the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on 31st December 2025 in Enugu. The development would put to rest months of speculation about where Obi would pitch his tent in the coming elections. Obi would be defecting with serving Senators and other lawmakers produced on the platform of the LP, as well as remnants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the southeast region. The Guardian gathered that Obi would be defecting alongside the Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh; that of Anambra North, Tony Nwoye; Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe; PDP chieftain Ben Obi; and members of the Obidient movement in the region. 1 killed, 3 in critical condition after Chicago mass shooting A mass shooting in Chicago early Sunday left one man dead and three others critically injured. Police reported the incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. in the River North neighborhood as a group of men were getting into a car. Four unidentified suspects reportedly approached on foot, brandished firearms, and opened fire. A 34-year-old man was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The three others, a 36-year-old man shot in the chest, a 43-year-old man shot in the back, and a 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, were all hospitalized in critical condition.  A casual staff member attached to the Gombe State Government House has been murdered under suspicious circumstances.   It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. on December 26, 2025 when Mallam Umar , also known as Baba Usama, who worked as a borehole operator at the newly renovated Taraba House, was discovered lying motionless.    The victim was found with his trousers tied around his neck and a local intoxicant, rubber solution, inserted in his mouth.
