 NO ABANDONMENT, NO NEW AWARDS: FG SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON MOROCCO SCHOLARSHIPS The Federal Government has firmly debunked misleading narratives circulating in some quarters regarding Nigerian scholarship students in the Kingdom of Morocco, describing such claims as false, unfounded, and deliberately crafted to misinform the public. The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has clarified that no Nigerian student on a valid Federal Government scholarship has been abandoned. All beneficiaries duly enrolled under the Bilateral Education Scholarship (BES) Programme prior to 2024 have received payments up to the 2024 budget year, in line with the Federal Government’s obligations. Any temporary delays in outstanding payments are attributable to fiscal constraints and are currently being addressed through ongoing engagements between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.  Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. A  private jet owned by NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has crashed at the Statesville Airport in North Carolina.  Sadly, early reports indicate Greg and his wife Cristina Grossu Biffle, along with their children, were aboard and are possibly four of the five fatalities reported in this accident.  Greg and his wife recently helped victims of hurricane Helene utilizing their own personal helicopter to deliver food and satellite kits. Cristina is a successful realtor as well as a philanthropist alongside her husband.  Gregory Jack Biffle, nicknamed "the Biff", is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the Nos. 23/24 Chevrolet SS for Sigma Performance Services. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

According to the report, at least 1,013 civilians were killed during the attack between April 11 and 13, which it described as "a consistent pattern of serious violations of international humanitarian law and gross violations of international human rights law." Police ACP slumps and dies in Abakaliki. The police Community in Ebonyi State has been thrown into mourning following the death of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola. The deceased an officer in charge of the State Intelligence Department (SID), reportedly slumped during a management meeting at the Command Headquarters Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, around 11 o'clock in the morning According to the police source as disclosed to NTA, he suddenly developed breathing difficulties and began gasping for breath during the meeting, prompting his being rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said he had crisis during a meeting and was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, could not survive it. Meanwhile, his remains have been deposited at the morgue of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA 1) in Abakaliki.

  45-year-old father of two has tragically died after waiting 34 hours for life-saving antibiotics at a Midlands hospital, with investigators concluding his death could have been avoided.   The disabled man was referred to Bassetlaw Hospital in Nottinghamshire in November 2022 for intravenous (IV) antibiotics to treat a urinary infection. However, a report by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) found serious failures in his care, The Mirror reported.   The man, who lived in supported accommodation in Ollerton, had Alexander disease, a rare and incurable neurological condition that affected his mobility, breathing, and ability to communicate.  Court Grants Ngige Bail Despite EFCC Objections, Sparks Debate Over Corruption Trials In a move stirring controversy, former Labour Minister and ex-Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, has been granted bail by Justice Maryam Aliyu Hassan of the FCT High Court, even as he faces an eight-count corruption charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While the court adopted the administrative bail previously granted by the EFCC on self-recognizance, it imposed stringent conditions: Ngige must produce a surety who is a Federal Government director, owns land in the FCT with a Certificate of Occupancy, and submits both the original certificate and international passport to the court.  President Tinubu to Present 2026 Budget on Friday, December 19 President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025. Ahead of the presentation, a formal communication from the Presidency will be read on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday, December 18, notifying lawmakers and staff of the President’s appearance. The notification follows a letter dated December 17, 2025, signed by Adm. Essien Eyo Essien, Secretary of Human Resources and Staff Development, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.  Court Dismisses Malami’s  Quest for Bail from EFCC Custody  Justice Babangida Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT,  High Court,  Abuja has dismissed  summons for bail filed by former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice,  Abubakar Salami, SAN,  against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.      He gave the ruling on Thursday,  December 18, 2025.  Over 600 civilians flee Sudan’s South Kordofan as insecurity worsens: UN Around 650 additional civilians fled South Kordofan state in western Sudan due to worsening insecurity, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said, Anadolu Agency reported. In a statement, the UN agency said that 460 people were displaced from the city of Kadugli on Monday and Tuesday and headed to North Kordofan, White Nile state (south), and Khartoum. The organization added that 145 more people fled from the city of Dilling, and another 45 from Al-Kuweik during the same period and took shelter in South Kordofan and West Kordofan. The IOM earlier said that 575 people had fled from Kadugli, Dilling, and Al-Kuweik on Sunday due to rising insecurity.
