The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. His passing is being investigated after claims of extreme bullying surface. A criminal investigation has been launched into the death of 14-year-old Gavyn Cunningham.  According to the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff, Jeff Travis, they usually don't open criminal investigations into s****de, but this case is different. According to the sheriff's office, they have received tips through the Crime Stoppers tip line alleging Gavyn was subjected to extreme bullying before taking his life.  Gavyn was a student at East Feliciana Middle School, where he was ruthlessly mocked and bullied.  A Kentucky woman has mysteriously disappeared after being seen with an unknown man at a bank. Kentucky State Police have issued a Golden Alert for 72-year-old Linda Bryant.  Linda was last seen on January 6th under suspicious circumstances.  According to reports, Linda was last seen with an unknown male at a bank in Corbin, Kentucky.  The two were witnessed in a 2025 Ford F-150 . Linda is described as 5'3" and 150 lbs . She has brown hair and hazel eyes.  NSCDC records 2,550 cases, resolves 345 through ADR in Ondo The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, recorded 2,550 cases between January and December 2025, resolving 345 through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). State Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye disclosed this on Wednesday in Akure, noting that the cases included vandalism, cybercrime, illegal mining, human trafficking, farm destruction, robbery and illegal gas retailing. He said 498 cases were investigated with 551 suspects arrested, while reported cases dropped from 2,900 in 2024 to 2,550 in 2025, attributing the decline to improved public awareness and inter-agency collaboration.

 A Kentucky woman who was involved in a minor car accident, sadly, was struck by a car when she exited her vehicle to check for damages. This tragic incident occurred  at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6th.  A woman, whose identity is currently being withheld, was involved in a minor car accident in the area of Bardstown Road and Watterson Trail.  When the woman stepped out of her vehicle to access damages, she was struck by a passing vehicle. Unfortunately, she did not survive.  Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating the incident. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.

A 53 year old woman, Madam Maria, and her 28 year old son, Adewale, have been arrested in Ille Oluji Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State for attempted money ritual. According to reports, the mother and son planned to use an unsuspecting neighbour’s 10 year old son for the ritual. They were said to be on their way to meet a herbalist with the innocent boy when the police intercepted them, following a tip off from concerned residents. The child was rescued safely, while the suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.

A Facebook user and anti-trafficking advocate, D’naked Elder Yaaya, raised the alarm on social media, alleging that intelligence networks have been activated across motor parks and transit routes to clamp down on traffickers. According to Yaaya, the suspect, Sharon Nadoo Shiter, is allegedly a key link in a trafficking network operating around Zaki-Biam and Gboko areas of the state.  5 FARMERS KILLED IN FRESH ATTACK IN BENUE  7th January, 2026     Five farmers were killed on Tuesday in a fresh attack on a farming community in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, local sources have confirmed. The incident reportedly occurred at about 4 p.m. while residents were harvesting yams and bambara nuts on their farmlands. A resident of the area, who identified himself as Terna, said the attack disrupted activities in the community and forced farmers to flee for safety. Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Kwande Local Government Area, Hon. Neji Vitalis Terhile, said five persons lost their lives in the attack.  BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE  The editors,  CAR THEFT: Police Thwart Criminal Theft Attempt of a Toyota Hilux Vehicle Within Bauchi Metropolitan.  On 5th January, 2026 at about 0630hrs, one Buhari Musa Umar, a member of Bauchi Emirate Council reported to a patrol team drafted at Jos road roundabout Bauchi that an unknown person stole the Emirate's Toyota Hilux parked in Inkiya Filling Station to buy fuel and headed to unknown destination.  The driver narrated that, he was heading to Ganjuwa LGA of the State to disburse Emir's messages when he was excused to ease himself.  LASG APPROVES THREE-MONTH REBATE FOR REPLACEMENT OF FADED NUMBER PLATES The Lagos State Government has approved a three-month rebate window for motorists to replace faded and unreadable vehicle number plates, as part of renewed efforts to enhance road safety, improve vehicle identification, and strengthen security across the state. This approval by the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Motor Vehicles Administration Agency (MVAA), Mr. Rasheed Muri-Okunola, saying that the rebate is a proactive and citizen-friendly intervention aimed at encouraging compliance while reducing the financial burden on vehicle owners.
