Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. Darren Fletcher, a former United and Scotland midfielder, was initially handed temporary responsibility for first-team affairs following Amorim's departure. United suffered an FA Cup third-rou...

A TENNESSEE WOMAN HAD TO HAVE HER LEG AMPUTATED AFTER BEING ATTACKED BY HER OWN DOG.(PHOTO).

A Tennessee woman had to have her leg amputated after being attacked by her own dog.

This terrifying incident occurred in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee home of 42-year-old Amanda Mears.

On the evening of December 10th, Amanda was preparing to take her dog, a Pit Bull/ American Staffordshire mix, named "Dennis" out for a walk.

As the two were making their way to the door, Amanda's other dog Ralphie, an American Bully, escaped from the room she was keeping him in.

In the blink of an eye, a vicious dog fight erupted. Amanda, who fosters dogs that have been abandoned, is no stranger to dog fights and jumped between the battling dogs in an attempt to stop the fight.

However, this turned out to not be your typical situation. For some reason, Dennis turned his ire towards Amanda.

In the following attack, Amanda would end up with a bite to her left hand and a bone crushed in her left arm. However, these injuries were only a prelude to the traumatic injury she would ultimately suffer.

Dennis latched onto her right leg with his jaws locked in a vice-like grip. During the chaos that ensued, Amanda was forced to choke Dennis out while screaming for her 10-year-old son to stay in his room.

When Amanda was eventually able to get free of Dennis's jowls, she was left with an extremely mangled leg.

When she made it to the hospital, her leg was essentially "hanging off". As doctors examined the damage, the full extent of Amanda's injuries became apparent.

Doctors informed her that in order to save the leg, she would have to undergo a series of surgeries (up to 12) in a two year process that would leave her in constant pain.

The other option was to have the leg amputated. To Amanda, the obvious choice was the second option. She underwent surgery 3 days later on her leg and also required surgery on her damaged arm.

Doctors removed her leg just below the knee. She is now being fitted for a prosthetic leg and preparing for her new journey as an amputee.

A GoFundMe has been launched to help with medical expenses.

After the harrowing incident, Amanda made the difficult decision to have Dennis euthanized.  The decision did not come easy as she contended Dennis had always been a sweet dog in the past. However, she feared for the safety of her son in the wake of the attack.

Our thoughts are with Amanda and we hope she has a speedy recovery.
