 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LAGOS STATE ENGAGES THE SERVICES OF 140 QUALIFIED TRAINING CONSULTANTS,TO TRAIN ITS STAFF TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

                       The Lagos State Commissioner of Establishments,Training and Pensions,Dr Akintola Benson has reiterated the Ambode administration's resolve to improve staff performance by engaging the services of 140 qualified training consultants t train its staff and help increase their capability for better service delivery to the people of the state.During a speech delivered during a training session at the Public Service Staff Development Centre,Magodo,Dr Benson said that the State Governor demonstrated his commitment to staff development by substantially increasing the budgetary allocation for training purposes in 2016.He said government had also ensured that it engages competent consultants were selected from 450 applicants.The Commissioner,represented at the event by the Director of Training in the Office of Establishments and Training,Mr Aruna Ayodele,said that the huge resources committed into staff development will equip staff with required competence,skills and attitude that will enhance productivity to the level commensurate with the unique status of the State public service.According to the Commissioner,some members of staff have also benefited from training programmes within and outside the country like National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies,Kuru in Jos,Administrative Staff College of Nigeria,ASCON in Badagry and in United States of America,stressing that staff training had been tailored to be knowledgeable and need driven to suit into identified areas of needs.The Commissioner added that some of the staff who may not be privileged to partake in the training exercise would be sent for their various professional conferences across the state and their conference fees would be borne by the government.He said in all,about 80 to 85 percent of the entire staff of the State Government would eventually benefit from the various training designed for 'critical mass' before the end of the year.More photos below.
