 Ogun Clears Eight-Year Pension and Gratuity Backlog The Ogun State Government has cleared pension and gratuity arrears owed to workers who retired between 2012 and 2020, reaffirming its strong commitment to the welfare of retirees. Speaking at a media parley, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Dapo Okubadejo, explained that the backlog was inherited under the Defined Benefits Scheme, stressing that the administration of Dapo Abiodun has not missed a single month of pension payments since assuming office. According to him, annual pension payments rose from ₦6.7 billion in 2019 to ₦20 billion in 2025, with projections of ₦40 billion by 2029. So far, ₦23.3 billion has been paid in gratuities to state retirees from 2012–2020, alongside ₦32.8 billion inherited for local government retirees. Police responded around 10:50 a.m. to a call about an armed break-in at an apartment in Cahuita, Limon, a coastal province roughly 100 miles east of San Jose. Van Dyke, 66, was discovered under a bed with a sheet over his face, having been strangled and stabbed multiple times.  BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND  PRESS RELEASE POLICE RESCUE MAN ILLEGALLY CONFINED FOR ABOUT TWO DECADES The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued a middle-aged man who was allegedly confined and leg-chained by his father for seventeen years. On 16th February, 2026, at about 1620hrs, information was received from a good Samaritan that one Muhammad Lawan, popularly known as Babangida, had been confined by his biological father, Mohammed Lawan, in his house for seventeen (17) years without care. Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by the DPO 'B' Division, in conjunction with the Command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), visited the scene in Shadawanka village of Bauchi LGA and successfully rescued the very emmaciated victim.  EFCC Quizzes Trader for Alleged Dealing in  Currency Counterfeiting  in Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation into the activities of  a 31- year old trader,  Oduburu Lucy Oluchi  also  known as Eze Chiamaka Lucy  caught with fake currency to the tune of N192, 000. 00 (One Hundred and Ninety-two Thousand Naira). Oluchi was arrested on December 23, 2025 at Eke Nibo market in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State by her fellow traders, while attempting to purchase goods in the market. Upon her arrest, she was handed over to Agunechemba Quasi Security outfit (Vigilante) who handed her over to the Department of State Services. Receiving the suspect from the DSS on December 29, 2025, the Commission discovered that she had in her possession fake One Thousand Naira notes totaling the said sum, with six different serial numbers.
