A FOREIGN RULING PARTY IS DEMANDING ANSWERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA OVER THE ARREST OF A PRIVATE CITIZEN. (PHOTO).

Image
A foreign ruling party is demanding answers from South Africa over the arrest of a private citizen Zimbabwe’s governing party, ZANU-PF, has reportedly requested an urgent report from South African authorities following the arrest of the son of former President Robert Mugabe. The arrest took place in South Africa under South African law. Law enforcement decisions in South Africa fall under the authority of local police and prosecutors, not foreign political parties. This raises serious sovereignty concerns. South Africa is not accountable to any foreign political party. If a governing party from another country expects briefings on domestic criminal matters, it challenges the principle that each state enforces its own laws independently. At the same time, governments often communicate through diplomatic channels when their citizens are arrested abroad. That process normally happens between states, not political parties. If this is a diplomatic matter, it should follow formal state-...
