The crisis deepened over the weekend when Starmer lost his chief of staff, and it intensified further on Monday with the resignation of his director of communications, Tim Allan, who said he was stepping aside to allow a new team to be formed. Starmer was scheduled to address Labour lawmakers behind closed doors in a bid to stabilize his leadership and regain trust. He also took aim at the predominantly Spanish-language performance, claiming viewers could not understand the lyrics and accusing the show of being inappropriate for children watching across the United States and around the world. Trump said there was “nothing inspirational” about the show and dismissed it as an affront to American greatness. The Cuban government has implemented measures to manage the energy crisis, including restricting fuel sales, reducing the workweek for state-owned companies, shortening school days, and closing some tourist facilities. Moscow called Cuba’s fuel situation “truly critical” and criticized U.S. pressure for exacerbating the crisis. Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla condemned Washington’s tariff threats as “blackmail and coercion,” while Mexico announced plans to send humanitarian aid and explore diplomatic avenues to resume oil shi...

He added that critics, including opposition parties and some commentators, misunderstand the lawmaking process. He stated: “The Senate does not conduct elections, we don’t deploy technology, we only make laws.  PRESS STATEMENT ON THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND THE TRANSMISSION OF ELECTION RESULTS The Nigerian Guild of Editors has expressed deep concern over the controversy surrounding the Senate’s position on the transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general elections.  This development is already creating room for doubt and mistrust in the electoral process among Nigerians. The uncertainty arising from the Senate’s adoption of provisions in the proposed 2022 Electoral Act—allowing for the transmission of election results without making it mandatory and immediate—runs contrary to the widely held position of most Nigerians and many lawmakers.  The resulting public outrage has pitted citizens against the Senate and could potentially discourage voter participation in future elections. At a time when Nigerians are calling for mandatory and immediate transmission of election results from polling units to central collation centres—and as countries across the world adopt elect...
