 Air Peace Suspends Enugu Flights, Redirects Operations to Asaba Over Runway Safety Concerns Air Peace has announced the immediate suspension of all flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, citing severe safety concerns due to the deteriorating condition of the airport’s runway. The airline made the announcement in a statement on Saturday, stating that operations to and from Enugu will be diverted to Asaba, Delta State, until further notice. The airline highlighted ongoing disruptions caused by the poor state of the runway, describing the situation as unmanageable and urging the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to urgently address the issue. “At Air Peace, we prioritise safety over convenience. Suspending flights to Enugu will allow FAAN the opportunity to carry out necessary runway repairs,” the statement read. 2000 STUDENTS WERE RECENTLY SCREENED BY LAGOS STATE FOR ADMISSION INTO JSS 2 & SS 1.

No automatic alt text available.                  Two thousand students seeking transfer into public schools in Lagos State recently wrote screening tests for the 2017/2018 academic session admissions into JSS II & SS 1.
The first-of-its-kind written examination is aimed at testing the applicants’ academic capabilities for admission into the respective classes of choice in State public schools.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi who led a monitoring team to assess the conduct of the test which took place simultaneously in all the Six Education Districts of the State, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
While assuring the candidates that results of the exercise would be ready next week, he said parents of the successful applicants will be notified through short message (SMS) to the phone number supplied by them.
Odeyemi said the early release of results will give parents and successful candidates ample time to prepare for school resumption on 11th September 2017.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the screening test was also aimed at creating a free level playing ground for the students, noting that the improved performance by students in public schools has attracted more candidates to seek admission into the State’s public primary and secondary schools.
Parents present at the examination centres at different locations in the State’ especially Districts 4 & 6, expressed gratitude to the Government for the transparency and equal opportunity availed every eligible student to participate in the screening exercise.A number of the candidates also hinged their willingness to transfer from private to public schools on the improved educational standards in government institutions as well as the inability of their parents to afford the high tuition fees in private schools anymore.
