  Student Arrested For Filming Classroom Assault On Teacher In Malaysia Police in Malaysia have arrested a 16-year-old after reportedly injuring a teacher with an axe at a private school in Kuching, Sarawak. According to Malaysian authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 7:50 am on Wednesday, October 21, at Tunku Putra-HELP School in Sarawak. CCTV footage reportedly shows the teenager entering a classroom armed with an axe and striking a female teacher. He subsequently exits before returning through another entrance and swinging the weapon towards fleeing students. When the teacher attempts to intervene, the suspect allegedly tries to attack her again. However, one male student reportedly managed to overpower him and confiscate the weapon. Sarawak acting police commissioner Saifullizan Ishak said the police received an emergency call, informing them that the student had brought firecrackers to the school and injured a teacher. BASIC EDUCATION: EDO GOVT,ENGAGES MOTHERS TO MONITOR STANDARDS+REPORT ERRANT SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS.{PHOTO}.

      The Edo State Government has engaged mothers as key stakeholders in the school system to monitor standards in its renewed effort to strengthen the basic education sector in the state.
Acting Chairman, State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) and Special Adviser to the Governor of Edo State on Basic Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, charged the women to be vanguards of quality education in their neighbourhoods, when she received members of Mothers’ Association in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, in her office, in Benin City.
According to her, the state government’s policy on basic education recognises the role of key stakeholders in assuring standards, especially women, who are closer to primary school pupils and are in a better position to ascertain the quality of tutelage they receive from schools.
She stressed that mothers will be engaged by the state government to monitor how schools adhere to government directives and initiatives in their neighbourhoods and report errant administrators to the board.
Dr. Oviawe added that the state government is committed to providing quality education at the basic school level by upgrading infrastructure, training of teachers and adopting Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the curriculum.
She tasked mothers across the state to support SUBEB in ensuring that the state government succeeds in its drive to reform education to deliver results.
Director, Social Mobilisation, SUBEB and Co-ordinator, Mothers’ Association in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, Mrs. Juliana Ogedegbe, said the association is identifying with the state government’s policy on basic education to ensure that the policy succeeds for the benefit of their children.Mrs. Ogedegbe added that the association will assist the government in improving school enrollment in primary schools and to achieve the objectives of Universal Basic Education.
