 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NO POLICE PERSONNEL PROTESTED IN ANY COMMAND THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AS A RESULT OF MIGRATION BY THE FORCE INTO IPPIS-FORCE PRO.

     The Nigeria Police Force in compliance with the Federal Government Financial Reforms has fully migrated into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) under the office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
2. It will be recalled that in August 2017, Eight (8) State Commands namely Nasarawa, Kebbi, Gombe, Kaduna, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Abia and Ogun States were selected as the pilot Commands that migrated to the IPPIS platform for payment of monthly salary to Police personnel, since then all challenges recorded by these Eight (8) States Commands were addressed and payments of Salaries in these States have been without hitches.
3. To ensure a prompt solution to all complaints that may arise as a result of the full migration of all the Police Formations and Commands nationwide in the Forty Two (42) MSS Centres across the Country,the Command Finance Officers (CFO), have been trained to ensure that all problems and other associated issues arising from the Salary payment are immediately collated and referred to the budget office at the Force Headquarters for prompt resolution.
4. Consequently, the Force Budget Department has ensured that all the Forty Two (42) MSS Centers across the Country have established Desk Officers to receive any complaint that may arise from salary payments and forward same to the IPPIS under Accountant General Office for prompt solution.
5. However, some challenges such as Under-payment, Omission of names on payroll, Non-payment and Over-payment of some Police Personnel currently being experienced in some State Commands enrolled on the platform of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) in the payment of February, 2018 Salary have been taken up with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and its being addressed.
6. The Commissioners of Police and their supervising Assistant Inspectors General of Police in charge of State and Zonal Commands, and Heads of other formations and detachment in the Force have been directed to lecture and educate their personnel who have any complaint on February, 2018 Salary that their complaints are being resolved.
7. Members of the Public are hereby enjoined not to panic but go about their lawful duties and other responsibilities without fear or apprehension. No Policeman protested in any State of the Country over migration to IPPIS.
8. While the Nigeria Police Force is assuring the media of continuous supports and cooperation, they are implored to always verify facts before publishing in order not to cause panic, tension and misinformation in the minds of the Public.
9. The Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined organization and will not allow any situation to degenerate into disturbance of Public Peace and breakdown of Law and Order anywhere in the Country.
10. Finally the Nigeria Police Force as a Federal Government Agency is determine to ensure that it complied with the Federal Government Financial reforms, and is assuring all its personnel who have a genuine complaint to forward it through the Desk Officers in their various Commands MSS.
