 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. KEBBI STATE COMMENCES TRAINING ON SOLAR.{PHOTOS}.

    Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the training of forty participants on solar and PV installation to be conducted by the Sokoto Energy Research Centre, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu urged the trainees to pay attention to the training to achieve maximum understanding to enable them impact same to others.
The four weeks intensive training commenced on Monday 6th August 2018 at the YESSO Training Hall in KUDA premises, Birnin Kebbi for the first two weeks. Those that pass the first examination will qualify for the second part to take place in the Sokoto Energy Research Centre in Sokoto State.
The State provided counterpart fund, with additional funding from other international donors which will lead to having International Certification in Solar and PhotoVoltaic Installation (SPVI).
Furthermore, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment and Social Support Services (YESSO), Hon. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu informed of a complimentary training alongside for the participants as Mobile Banking Agents, facilitated by InterSwitch Financial Inclusion, which will also allow them to render financial services for people in local communities to enhance the current efforts on financial inclusion.This he said, has brought the number of youth volunteers trained under the Public WorkFare Services in the state to one hundred. Other areas are public and civil security, environmental sanitation, and paramedics all expected to be commissioned soon by the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, and shall be posted to different formations across the State.More photos below.
