Emefiele Violated CBN Act in Naira Redesign Exercise-Witness The Seventh Prosecution Witness, PW7, Chinedu Eneanya, in the trial of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, told Justice Maryanne Anineh of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, that Emefiele violated the provisions of the CBN Act in the 2022 naira redesign exercise.  Emefiele is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a four-count charge, bordering on the alleged unlawful printing of new naira notes. Testifying under cross-examination by defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN,  at Wednesday’s proceedings, the witness disclosed that “the investigation conducted by the team showed that the defendant disobeyed the provisions of the CBN Act, 2007.  Soludo bans extra mural classes in Anambra schools


Governor Chukwuma Soludo has banned the extension of classes in all schools in Anambra State and directed all schools to dismiss by 2:30 pm.


Soludo in what looks like a swift response to the observation of the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor said the State Government has adopted the United Nations (UN) stipulations for schools to end daily academic activities by 2:30 pm.


The Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh in a statement in Awka, said the adoption was in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s desire for school children to have adequate rest and interaction with their parents before the commencement of the next day’s activities.


She charged all school Heads in the State to ensure the closure of all daily academic activities by 2:30 pm, to give room for the children to be at home by 3 pm.


The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor had expressed worry over long periods of time pupils spend in school, describing the practice as unhealthy to both the pupils and their parents.


The prelate who blamed teachers for the ugly development, lamented that the current education system makes it almost impossible for pupils to spend quality time with their parents as teachers engaged the pupils in lessons from 7 am to 6 pm.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
