At 84, Martha Stewart says the reason she remains unattached isn’t because she lacks qualities as a partner, but because her schedule leaves no room for romance.
Speaking at a recent luncheon in New York, the lifestyle mogul explained that while she considers herself “a very good catch,” she simply doesn’t have the time to devote to a relationship.
Stewart’s calendar is packed with commitments, from covering the Winter Olympics in Italy to attending Fashion Week and hosting events for her skincare brand.
Stewart has only been married once, to publisher Andrew Stewart, with whom she shares her daughter Alexis. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1990.
Over the years, she’s had high-profile relationships, including a brief romance with Anthony Hopkins which she ended after being unnerved by his Silence of the Lambs character and a long-term relationship with billionaire Charles Simonyi.
Stewart has described that breakup as her “second divorce.” Despite remaining single, she admits she still notices men around her, even joking about her morning routine of showering and putting on makeup before heading to the gym.
Her busy lifestyle and independence haven’t stopped Stewart from embracing her role as a homemaker and entrepreneur.
She continues to balance her professional ventures with personal routines, like redecorating rooms and spring cleaning.
Stewart’s reflections highlight her contentment with life as it is full of work, creativity, and self-care while also showing that she hasn’t lost her playful awareness of the world around her.
