Southern Kaduna Muslim Group Sends Message Of Support To El-Rufai’s Family
A group known as the Concerned Muslim Ummah Forum of Southern Kaduna has expressed solidarity with the family of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El‑Rufai, amid his ongoing detention.
In a letter addressed to the family, the group representing members from Southern Kaduna Senatorial District (Zone 3) expressed appreciation for El-Rufai’s eight years in office as governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023.
According to the forum, several communities in Southern Kaduna, including Kagarko, Kachia, Zangon Kataf, Jaba, Jama’a, Kaura, Kauru, and Sanga, benefited from policies implemented during his administration.
The group cited improvements in infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare services, employment opportunities, and peace-building initiatives as some of the achievements recorded during his tenure.
The group also expressed concern over the challenges currently facing the former governor and assured his family of prayers and support during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan.
“We wish to reaffirm our support and prayers for His Excellency and his family during this period,” the group said, noting that Muslims in Southern Kaduna are remembering the former governor in prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
The statement further prayed for strength, patience, and protection for El-Rufai, asking Almighty Allah to guide him through his trials and grant him victory over difficulties.
The group also encouraged reflection on teachings from the Qur’an that urge believers to remain patient and steadfast during periods of trial.
El-Rufai has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission since February 2026 over allegations related to financial misconduct, although his family and legal team have argued that his continued detention is unlawful and have demanded his release.
