 VP SHETTIMA TO LAUNCH FIRST UNIVERSITY PODS IN AFRICA Vice President Kashim Shettima will flag off the first University Innovation Pods in Africa at the University of Lagos on Tuesday April, 7th 2026  An initiative of the United Nations Development Programme in partnership with the Federal Government aims to reconfigure Nigeria’s development architecture to transform universities into engines of innovation and enterprise creation, among other objectives.  ‘Mockery of governance’ – Peter Obi on Adamawa LG chairmen’s wives’ trip to Turkey


The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has faulted the trip of the wives of 21 local government chairmen in Adamawa State who were allegedly sponsored with public funds to Turkey under the guise of leadership training.


In a post on his verified X handle on Friday, Obi described the development as a glaring case of waste and a mockery of the very essence of governance.


“I have just read the disturbing report that the wives of 21 local government chairmen in Adamawa State were sponsored with public funds to travel to Turkey under the guise of leadership training.


“Today, while our children at the basic education level, whose education is the responsibility of local governments, are out of school, and those in school lack classrooms and teachers.


“Local government funds belong to the people, to the market woman, the farmer, the teacher, the pensioner, and every ordinary Nigerian who depends on government for basic amenities.


“Anything short of that is an abuse of office and should not be condoned. This is not only a glaring case of waste but a mockery of the very essence of governance,” he wrote.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
