 Ghana scraps visa fees for all Africans Ghana announces it will introduce a free visa regime for all African nationals in a move aimed at strengthening regional integration, tourism, and intra-African trade. In a post on social media platform X, Foreign Minister Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa says President John Mahama had approved the policy, which will take effect on May 25, marking Africa Day. “The Government of Ghana has decided to introduce a free visa regime for all Africans who wish to visit Ghana,” Ablakwa said, adding that the policy forms part of a broader effort to position Ghana as a leader in Pan-African unity, TRT Afrika reported. Mahama made the announcement during Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa's inaugural state visit to Ghana.  “Ghana seeks to consolidate its credentials as the cradle of Pan-Africanism even as it expects a major boost in tourism and intra-African trade by this groundbreaking reform,” Ablakwa adds.  INEC DISMISSES CALLS FOR CHAIRMAN’S REMOVAL; SAYS IT WILL BE A DIRECT ASSAULT ON ITS INDEPENDENCE 


INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan says Any call for his removal outside the established constitutional process is not only a distraction but a direct assault on the independence of the nation’s electoral umpire.


A statement by the Chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, Adedayo Oketola notes that While a political party or a group is allowed to protect their interest, the Commission decided to comply with the Judgment of the Court of Appeal to avert a situation that occurred in Zamfara and Plateau States where elected officials were removed by the Election Tribunal on account of disobedience to Court Judgment. 


The statement further adds that Proceeding to monitor the congress and convention of the David Mark-led ADC would amount to a disobedience to the court order since the relief claimed in the Originating Summons and other court processes filed include an order restraining INEC from monitoring any meeting, congress and convention of the party.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
