 Ghana scraps visa fees for all Africans Ghana announces it will introduce a free visa regime for all African nationals in a move aimed at strengthening regional integration, tourism, and intra-African trade. In a post on social media platform X, Foreign Minister Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa says President John Mahama had approved the policy, which will take effect on May 25, marking Africa Day. “The Government of Ghana has decided to introduce a free visa regime for all Africans who wish to visit Ghana,” Ablakwa said, adding that the policy forms part of a broader effort to position Ghana as a leader in Pan-African unity, TRT Afrika reported.  Ethiopia, Rosatom Discuss Nuclear Power Plant Project, Sign Strategic Roadmap, Says Ethiopian MFA Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gideon Timotheos met with a Russian delegation led by Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director General of Rosatom, to discuss nuclear energy cooperation, the ministry announced, Sputnik reported. The talks, also attended by Sandokan Debebe, head of the Ethiopian Atomic Energy Commission, focused on implementing an action plan for developing a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia, signed between the parties in September 2025. The sides also reviewed a new strategic roadmap for nuclear energy development, signed on March 31 by the Ethiopian Atomic Energy Commission and Rosatom. The document includes a step‑by‑step plan for bringing nuclear power projects online in Ethiopia.

The Yobe State Government has deployed 237 teachers and school principals to Kaduna for intensive capacity-building training as part of its ongoing education reform agenda. The Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, disclosed this during a send-off ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Damaturu. The Head of Service said the initiative is a strategic step towards strengthening the quality of teaching and leadership in schools across the state. The participants comprise 158 teachers and mentors, as well as 79 senior secondary school principals drawn from key education agencies, including the State Universal Basic Education Board, Teaching Service Board, and the Science and Technical Education Board.  Florida vice mayor found dead, husband charged with murder Nancy Metayer Bowen’s death has shaken Coral Springs and beyond, not only because she was a rising political figure but also because of the tragic circumstances surrounding her family.  The 38‑year‑old vice mayor, remembered as the first Black and Haitian‑American woman to serve on the city commission, was found dead in her home on April 1.  Her husband, Stephen Bowen, has since been arrested and charged with premeditated murder and evidence tampering.  Police have not yet disclosed the manner of her death, but emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.
