34,000 APPLICANTS SEEK 1,000 POLICE JOBS IN BENUE  No fewer than 34,000 applicants are competing for just 1,000 police recruitment slots in Benue State, highlighting the growing unemployment crisis, the police have said. The disclosure was made on Thursday by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Musa Abdulraham, during a lecture at the Police Officers’ Mess in Makurdi. The event formed part of activities marking the 2026 Police Week. Speaking on “Prevention of Electoral Violence and Ballot Box Snatching,” Abdulraham linked youth unemployment to rising cases of electoral violence. He noted that thousands of jobless youths are often exploited by politicians to disrupt elections. He said the overwhelming number of applicants underscores the scarcity of employment opportunities in the state. “For example, in the ongoing police recruitment, 34,000 applied in Benue State for only 1,000 vacancies. “PETER OBI WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA” – TINUBU’S MEDIA ADVISER DANIEL BWALA DECLARES. (PHOTO).

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has asserted that former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, will never become President of Nigeria.

Bwala made the strong declaration while featuring on News Central TV’s programme 60 Minutes with Mr Kay on Friday.

“He will never be president. He will never cross the Central Business District that will lead to Aso Villa,” Bwala stated emphatically.

The presidential aide argued that anyone aspiring to the presidency must possess certain key characteristics, which he claimed Mr. Obi lacks.

“Anybody that would be a president, there are characteristics that you will see. The person must be visionary, the person must be grassroots-oriented — organic grassroots, not manipulation. The person must be sincere… but Peter Obi will never be,” he said.

Bwala further accused Obi of lacking genuine grassroots support, claiming instead that the former governor relied on a religious narrative to mobilise backing.

“Peter Obi does not have grassroots. What Peter Obi did is that he went to the church with a narrative when Buhari was in government that the church is being disenfranchised and it’s time for the church to take back their country. That narrative is what he used in rallying support among pastors and bishops, and that is not a grassroots support,” he added.

Bwala also criticised Obi for allegedly presenting a public image that contrasts sharply with his true persona.
