EASTER SECURITY ASSESSMENT: ANAMBRA POLICE EXPRESS CONCERN OVER MASKED SECURITY PERSONNEL PROTECTING VIPs, WARN OF SECURITY RISKS The Anambra State Police Command has expressed serious concern over the growing trend of some security operatives concealing their identities while providing protection to Very Important Personalities (VIPs) within the State. The Command notes that while security duties often require tactical discretion, the act of masking identities without proper authorization raises significant security concerns. ABDULRAHMAN-LED PDP DESCRIBES BALA MOHAMMED’S PLANNED DEFECTION TO ADC AS UNFORTUNATE. (PHOTO).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s planned defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as unfortunate.

The party, which is backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the governor’s demands for reconciliation within the PDP were unwieldy and difficult to accommodate.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee, through its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, demanded that Governor Bala Mohammed resign as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

The party alleged that the governor’s personal interests have contributed to the current crisis rocking the PDP.

The development follows Governor Mohammed’s announcement on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with a delegation of the ADC, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, at the Bauchi Government House.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the governor said he had chosen the ADC as his preferred political platform after leaving the PDP.

Mohammed attributed his planned defection to the lingering crisis in the PDP, stating that reconciliation efforts had failed to yield results.

“We have found ourselves in a very serious situation. I have done everything possible to ensure reconciliation, but it has not worked,” he said.

He revealed that committees were set up at both national and state levels to explore options, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the party was not welcome there.

“As of now, the ADC appears to be a very welcoming and acceptable platform. However, we have not concluded discussions. We are engaging stakeholders to ensure we do not make mistakes,” Mohammed added.

The governor disclosed that a final decision on the defection would be made soon, with a formal announcement expected by Thursday.

“We are very conscious of the timeline. Everything will be concluded by Thursday so that we can move forward together. You will hear a firm commitment from us,” he said.

Governor Mohammed also claimed that internal divisions within the PDP were being worsened by external forces, accusing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of playing a significant role in the crisis.
