48-year-old Thomas Cremeens blew through a red light on the morning of April 3rd in Oak Park, Illinois.
As he careened through traffic, Cremeens swerved hard to keep from hitting a pedestrian. However, Cremeens ultimately crashed into multiple vehicles, creating a path of destruction that left 14 victims suffering from injuries.
When his vehicle came to rest, a bystander approached Cremeens vehicle to check on him. Witnesses on the scene would later report to authorities they heard a single gunshot soon after the bystander's welfare check.
First responders discovered Thomas Cremeens deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside of his vehicle a short time later.
11 people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, while 3 others were treated at the scene.
Our thoughts are with everyone involved.
