NPF MODERNIZES OPERATIONAL FLEET WITH SUPPORT FROM NPF-TF AND PI-CNG, SETS PATH FOR GREEN ENERGY TRANSITION

In a significant step toward sustainable policing and enhanced operational efficiency, the Nigeria Police Force, on 21st April 2026, received three specialized buses from the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPF-TF) and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV).

The ceremony marks the official commencement of the transition toward green energy within the Nigeria Police Force.

The event was attended by a distinguished delegation from the NPF-TF, including Executive Secretary Mohammad Sheidu, CP Tony Emafale, Alhaji Sanusi Aliyu, QS Lawal Aliyu, and Oritsemi Banigo. Representing the PI-CNG & EV was its Chief Executive Officer, Barrister Ismail Ahmed, OON, alongside Mrs. Tari Mayor-Knight, Mr. Tosin Coker, Mrs. Omolara Obileye, Mrs. Hadiza Lawal, Onyekachi Eke, and Theodora Nwaodim.

At the event, the leadership of both organizations emphasized that this initial donation is merely the first step in a broader commitment to modernize the Police fleet. They announced a comprehensive plan to convert existing Police operational vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a move expected to drastically reduce fuel expenditure and the environmental impact of nationwide operations. Beyond the provision of hardware, the partnership focuses on long-term sustainability through intensive capacity building.

Responding to the gesture, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NPF-TF and the PI-CNG & EV for their visionary support. He noted that the transition to CNG and electric vehicles is a strategic necessity that aligns the Nigeria Police Force with global best practices in logistics and resource management.

The IGP assured that the new buses will be deployed to improve personnel welfare and mobility. He further emphasized that establishing internal conversion centres will enable the Police to independently maintain its fleet, ensuring sustained technological advancement.

The ceremony concluded with the official handover of the vehicle keys and a tour of the vehicles. This collaboration underscores a shared dedication to equipping the Nigeria Police Force with modern, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. By integrating these advanced technologies, the NPF reaffirms its commitment to operational readiness and the efficient service of the Nigerian public in a rapidly evolving digital and energy landscape.
