Federal Polytechnic, Oko has elected new Deans of Schools and Heads of Departments following institution-wide polls conducted by the Management in accordance with the Polytechnic Act.
According to a memo on election guidelines issued by the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe, only lecturers in the rank of Senior Lecturer and above were eligible to contest for the position of Head of Department, while the rank of Chief Lecturer was required for the office of Dean. The voting process was two-tiered: teaching staff in each department elected their Head of Department, while all teaching staff within a School voted to elect their Dean.
In the School of Information Technology, Barr. Fidelis Mmaduabuchi Oduah emerged as the new Dean. Dr. Oduah is the incumbent Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Oko Chapter, and a former Head of the Department of Mass Communication.
Other newly elected Deans are: Dr. Ngozi Onwuka, School of General Studies; Dr. Emmanuel Ezenwafor, School of Financial Studies; QS Chinedu Maduekeh, School of Environmental Design and Technology; Engr. Nwosu Ndubuisi Oluchukwu, School of Engineering Technology; Ezeakunne Obiajunwa, School of Business Studies; and Ehichanya Angela Ngozi, School of Arts, Design and Printing Technology.
While some of the newly elected Heads of Department include: Dr. Ezekwe Angela, Department of Languages; Dr. Ananti John Egbunike, Department of Electrical/Electronics Engineering; Dr. Tochukwu Anazodo, Department of Business Administration and Management; Onyejeakor Sandra, Department of Library and Information Science; Rev. Fr. Paul Azuakor, Department of Social Sciences; and Victoria Okoma, Department of Computer Science.
