 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said. 2023: My Focus At This Time Is Fighting Inflation Not Politics – Emefiele 

Amid speculations that he may be running for President in 2023, Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele on Monday said his focus was on solving macroeconomic challenges, including fighting inflation.

Banners of Mr Emefiele as a presidential candidate has flooded parts of the country, suggesting he might be interested in politics.

“My focus at this time is a robust monetary policy and fighting inflation which is now a global problem; building a strong financial system in an increasingly uncertain global economy,” Mr Emefiele said in a series of tweets.
