According to her, the issue started after she jokingly told him she did not like Arsenal and believed they would not win the league because she preferred Chelsea and disliked the club’s colours. She claimed her boyfriend then jokingly said if Arsenal eventually won, he would no longer send her business money. Thinking it was banter, she ignored it until she later reached out for funds to restock goods, only for him to remind her of the bet and refuse to send the money.  NOTIFICATION OF CONVICTION A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, presided over by Hon. Justice L. I. Ojukwu, has convicted Etteokon Ntuen (55, male) for harbouring a 15-year-old girl for the purpose of sexual exploitation by means of deception. The convict was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment with an additional ₦300,000 compensation to the victim and a written apology. The convict deceived the victim’s parents under the pretext of taking her to Lagos for schooling but instead harboured her in Calabar for exploitation. The offence is contrary to Section 13(2)(b) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, says the decision follows the State Executive Council’s consideration of the visitation panel report. It adds that the Registrar and Bursar have also been removed, while the appointment of Abba Muhammad Adua has been terminated. The statement further discloses that Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed Sole Administrator, with a mandate to stabilise governance and restore academic standards pending the reconstitution of a new Governi The decision takes immediate effect.

 DG NEMA Takes Disaster Risk Reduction Awareness To Primary School Pupils in Abuja The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has visited LEA Primary School, Durumi, Abuja where she engaged pupils in an interactive session on disaster prevention and safety awareness. The visit which formed part of NEMA’s ongoing efforts to promote disaster risk reduction education among young Nigerians and build a culture of safety from an early age.
