Louisiana mayor arrested for $75k fraud scheme blames 'devil' for trying to ruin her re-election bid Winnsboro Mayor Alice Wallace, 50, has been arrested on charges of government benefits fraud after allegedly receiving $75,000 in fraudulent Medicaid payments since 2021.  Investigators say she failed to report her income, marital status, and access to employer‑provided insurance, which would have disqualified her from the program.  Wallace, who became Winnsboro’s first female mayor in 2022, was taken into custody in Baton Rouge last week and later released on bond. Despite the allegations, Wallace has denied wrongdoing and claimed the charges are politically motivated.  In a Facebook post, she blamed the “devil” for trying to discredit her re‑election campaign, insisting she has had Blue Cross insurance since 2021 and that her daughter was covered by her father’s plan.  She questioned why she would bill Medicaid if both were already insured, and vowed she would be vi...

Blunt reflected on how the first film changed her career, saying director David Frankel took a chance on her when she was relatively unknown.  That role allowed her to break free from being typecast in British period dramas and opened the door to more diverse character work.  She described reprising her role in the sequel as “terribly moving,” acknowledging how pivotal the original ...
