 LAGOS UNVEILS DIGITAL EMERGENCY SYSTEM TO CUT RESPONSE TIME The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Lagos Emergency Responder Management System (LERMS), a technology-driven platform designed to enhance coordination among emergency agencies and significantly reduce response time across the state. Speaking at the launch held at the Folarin Coker Staff Clinic Conference Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Gbenga Oyerinde, described LERMS as a “transformative digital platform” that would revolutionise emergency management in Lagos. He said the initiative was part of efforts to build a safer, smarter and more responsive megacity, noting that the complexities of urban living required a shift from fragmented approaches to an integrated system. “LERMS brings together multiple layers of emergency response into a single, unified ecosystem, ensuring seamless coordination among first responders,” he said.  OPERATION EASTERN SANITY: TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS ARREST CRIMINALS IN THE SOUTH EAST    Troops of Operation UDO KA  in collaboration with other security agencies have continued to sustain operational momentum in the South East under the ongoing operation EASTERN SANITY. Troops recorded significant successes with the rescue of kidnap victims in Enugu State and the arrest of a criminal network member in Ebonyi State on 28 April 2026.  In Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, troops of the 82 Division Garrison deployed at Akama acted swiftly on credible intelligence regarding a kidnap attempt along the Akama–Iwollo Road in Enugu state. The troops pursued and engaged the criminals, successfully rescuing four abducted individuals: Chisom Kingsley and Chuoke Chinedu, both from Akama.  EFCC Grills Managing Director, Paramount Energy Limited for Alleged N72.3million Fraud in Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have commenced investigations into the activities of one Ralph Chinazum Ajah,  Managing Director, Paramount Energy Limited for an alleged case of obtaining by false pretence and stealing to the tune of N72, 300, 000. 00 (Seventy two million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira). A petitioner  alleged that he sent the said sum to Ajah for the supply of petroleum products to some of his branches. The said money was paid in six tranches between April 11, 2022 and May 24, 2022.   “After he collected the money, he kept promising to supply the products as agreed but failed to do so which then prompted us to do preliminary investigations and we discovered that Chinazumah Ajah and his company do not have the capacity to supply the products and he deliberately defrauded us of our business...
