The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has described workers in the state as dependable partners in progress and key drivers of economic growth.
In a goodwill message to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day, Udeze commended Nigerian workers, particularly those in Anambra State, for their resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to nation-building. He noted that the workforce remains the backbone of the country’s development and the engine that sustains its economy.
The Speaker lauded the commitment of Anambra workers in building a strong and efficient civil and public service system, emphasizing that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has created a conducive environment that promotes job satisfaction and security.
Udeze further praised the state government for its ongoing reforms in the civil service, including improved remuneration, consistent training and retraining programmes, and the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities. According to him, these efforts have significantly boosted morale and productivity among workers.
He also applauded the workforce for distinguishing itself at both national and international levels, particularly highlighting the achievements of Anambra teachers and civil servants who have excelled in various competitions.
While noting that the synergy between the government and workers has driven positive transformation in the state, the Speaker urged workers to remain disciplined, avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the government, and stay committed to their duties.
