 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  Onitsha North LGA Appoints Miss Maureen Igwe as Environmental Ambassador


Onitsha, Anambra State, In a commendable act of patriotism, Miss Maureen Igwe, popularly known as Maureen Comics, has been appointed Environmental Ambassador of Onitsha North LGA following her voluntary cleanup of the MCC Pedestrian Bridge in Onitsha.


The viral video of Miss Igwe cleaning the bridge caught the attention of the compassionate Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, who visited the site the following day, Sunday, to witness the act firsthand.


During her official visit to the local government secretariat in Onitsha GRA, Mayor Nwora engaged Miss Igwe in a discussion to understand her motivation. The young environmentalist, originally from Amagunze, Nkanu East LGA, Enugu State, expressed her love for Onitsha and desire to improve the town’s environment. She noted that the unpleasant smell on the MCC Pedestrian Bridge had been disturbing for herself and passers-by, prompting her initiative to clean it.


Mayor Nwora praised Miss Igwe for her patriotism, emphasizing that her action aligns with the objectives of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, championed by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. In recognition of her contribution, he officially appointed her as the Environmental Ambassador of Onitsha North LGA, urging her to help promote environmental cleanliness and awareness across the town.


Miss Igwe expressed immense joy and gratitude upon receiving the appointment. The Mayor also assured that steps are being taken to maintain the MCC Pedestrian Bridge in a clean state moving forward.


The meeting was attended by Chief Jonathan Ifeme, MD of Onitsha North Waste Management Authority, and Mr. Obiekwe Asolo, Deputy MD of the Authority.
