ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, CHEATING, AND FORGERY OF EMPLOYMENT OFFERS
The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the public that it has recorded a breakthrough in the investigation of a case involving alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery related to recruitment activities within the Civil Service Commission.
On 28th April 2026, at about 1530hrs, the Command received a formal complaint from the Office of the Head of Civil Service through the Director of Recruitment and Training, Civil Service Commission, alleging fraudulent activities connected with the circulation and possession of purported Civil Service recruitment documents.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the Command immediately commenced an investigation, and a team of detectives was detailed to unravel the circumstances surrounding the case. The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as:
1. Mohammed Bappa ‘m’, aged 30 years, a civil servant attached to Shira Local Government Secretariat; and
2. Aminu Nuru ‘m’, aged 28 years, a café business owner based in Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Preliminary investigation revealed credible intelligence, which prompted detectives to conduct a search at the residence of the first suspect, Mohammed Bappa, located at Kakudi area, Azare town, Katagum LGA, Bauchi State.
During the search, the following exhibits were recovered:
- Twenty (20) Civil Service Commission bio-data forms; and
- Five (5) printed copies of purported Offer of Temporary Appointment letters.
The recovered items are suspected to have been forged and intended for fraudulent recruitment activities designed to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspects are currently in police custody while the investigation is ongoing to uncover other possible accomplices and determine the extent of the criminal network. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), reiterates the Command’s commitment to combating all forms of fraud, forgery, and criminal conspiracy across the State. He advised citizens to avoid desperation, remain vigilant and verify all recruitment-related information through appropriate government channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
