 PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS MS. ADEDAYO BENJAMIN LANIYI AS DG/CEO OF THE MARYAM BABANGIDA NATIONAL CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT President Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the Director-General /Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) and  members of the Governing Council  for an initial term of four (4) years. In a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume the appointment which takes effect from April 18, 2026, is in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.  BRICS SUMMIT: NIGERIA SEEKS STRONGER GLOBAL SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION IN NEW DELHI, INDIA 


Nigeria reaffirmes its resolve to stronger cooperation with BRICS nations and the Global South, as the bloc marks 20 years since its formation. 


This is at the 18th BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, in New Delhi.


Representing the Federal Government at the high-level meeting, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Ahmed Dunoma, described BRICS as a vital platform for promoting cooperation, innovation, resilience, and sustainable development among emerging economies.


He expressed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen collaboration, highlighting ongoing economic reforms to reduce oil dependence and boost agriculture, manufacturing, and services.


The Perm Sec. also highlighted Nigeria’s leadership in ECOWAS on peacebuilding and security, as well as its growing tech ecosystem—citing the Digital Literacy for All (DL-4-ALL) and the 3 Million Technical Talent scheme (3MTT).


He urged stronger BRICS cooperation in technology transfer and knowledge exchange, and backed the expansion of the BRICS New Development Bank for infrastructure financing.


In the climate, he noted Nigeria’s plan to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060 through renewable energy and green finance.


The Permanent Secretary, Dunoma reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for the Paris Agreement and UN SDGs, adding that President Tinubu’s administration remains focused on fiscal discipline and long-term transformation.
