 PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS MS. ADEDAYO BENJAMIN LANIYI AS DG/CEO OF THE MARYAM BABANGIDA NATIONAL CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT President Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the Director-General /Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) and  members of the Governing Council  for an initial term of four (4) years. In a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume the appointment which takes effect from April 18, 2026, is in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.  TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE MORE ABDUCTEES, NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, ARREST SUSPECTED COLLABORATORS IN SUSTAINED NORTH EAST OPERATIONS Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have continued to record significant operational successes under Operation DESERT SANITY, including the rescue of abducted civilians, neutralisation of terrorists, and arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators across the theatre of operations. In a sustained clearance operation along the Mandara Mountains axis, troops of OPHK, acting on credible intelligence, conducted operation at suspected terrorist crossing point along the Amuda–Gava corridor on 14 May 2026. During the operation, troops successfully intercepted and rescued six abducted women and children, all residents of Ngoshe community, who had been held captive by Boko Haram/ISWAP террорист elements.  STAKEHOLDERS IN UMUNNEOCHI, ISUIKWUATO ENDORSE OTTI FOR SECOND TERM AS ABIA MONARCHS INTENSIFY PVC SENSITISATION  Stakeholders in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato Local Government Areas have endorsed Governor Alex Otti for second term in office, adopting him as their sole candidate for the governorship election. The endorsement followed the continuation of the statewide sensitisation tour of LGAs by the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers who sensitised them on the need to register for and obtain the voters card to participate in civic responsibilities.
