 EFCC Arrests Fleeing Ex-Power Minister, Saleh Mamman in Kaduna The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a fleeing former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, in Rigasa area of Kaduna State.  Mamman was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, May 19, 2026 following weeks of intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering by operatives of the Commission. Addressing journalists on the arrest, Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed that the former minister went underground after he was convicted by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on corruption charges. “On May 7, 2026, Justice James Omotosho found Mamman guilty on all 12 counts bordering on diversion of funds meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.  POLICING WITH EMPATHY: ANAMBRA POLICE PROVIDES AID FOR A MAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS DURING PATROL, ALSO PROMOTES NATION BUILDING THROUGH PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENTS 


The Anambra State Police Command has continued to demonstrate its commitment to protecting lives and showing compassion to members of the public. This follows the rescue of an unconscious male pedestrian beside Dozzy Filling Station along the Onitsha/Owerri Road, Okpoko, as well as the payment of second-term school fees for five outstanding pupils as part of efforts to promote nation-building.


Police Operatives attached to Okpoko Division, while on routine foot patrol, found the yet-to-be-identified aged man lying unconscious and immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.


The Command is concerned about the condition of the victim and urges members of the public who may have useful information regarding his identity, family, or residence to report to the Okpoko Police Division or contact the Command for necessary action.


In a related development, the Command also fulfilled its promise made during the activities marking the National Police Day celebration by paying the second-term school fees of five pupils who distinguished themselves academically in their respective classes. The gesture is aimed at encouraging excellence, supporting education, and promoting nation-building in Anambra State.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD, noted that the Police remains committed not only to maintaining law and order, but also to supporting initiatives that positively impact the lives of Ndi Anambra, especially the younger generation.


The Command therefore reassures residents of its resolve to continue to combine effective policing with people-oriented programmes that foster trust, compassion, and community development.
